I would like to direct this comment to the owners of Proboards as I am mindful of the fact that you offer this service for free and I except that you would like to place adverts because of this fact.
Having looked at my website this morning to my deep concern I find an advert with highly sexual connotations,
Surely in this day and age this sort of advert is highly unacceptable and if you find this acceptable then you leave me no option as to delete this website and I would build one on another platform.
I am not going to put the effort in to build up registered users when people can see that sort of advert. They would probably wonder who is running this sort of material, surely you should monitor these adverts and especially the person that put it there.
I look forward to your response.

Are they similar in nature to ones I complained about in the past?

Hi bigballofyarn I see your SPOILER however the ads that appeared on my forum were of real people in acts of sex I do not wont to be associated with that.
It looks like they have gone a step forward from your photos to real people.

pelo2718 - the type of ads you describe are not acceptable and I apologize that they are appearing for you. Should you encounter an ad that violates our ad policies please report it to us by PMing Michael or myself directly with the following information (please use "bad ad" or "redirect ad" as applicable for the subject line!): - Date and Time when it happened (with timezone):
- The user’s platform (device, browser, ISP network):
- The user’s location:
- The URL where it happened (the page the user was on before the redirect or the issue)
- The user’s IP address:

Hi Scott
Thank you for your reply, I created that forum and I witness the advert that a member of proboard must have put on, it was not in a post of one of my members. They are appearing on the homepage top and bottom of forum. Surely it is not up to me to track down the person/s that are responsible for putting that sort of stuff out there, that is out of my control. Only proboard have admin staff approving the adverts?
If you do not know who is doing this surely you must vet the adverts and proboard admin must take on the responsibility of content that is added to a forum via adverts. As I myself if I see something that is inappropriate I would delete as soon as possible from any of my members. I would also barr the member.
I might add I was not even signed in at the time, when the advert was appearing on the forum flashing on the banner at the top and bottom.

pelo2718 - Please allow me to explain how the ads work in relation to the forum, and I should note here that this process is basically an industry standard for websites and social media entities - and it is not a process unique to ProBoards. There is not a person, or team that adds ads to the forum. It is an automated process. The ads you see at the top and bottom of the forum page are the result of built-in code that acts as a placeholder for the ad and communicates with ad providers. When a user visits a page different factors come in to play, such as the user's location, their browsing history, the subject matter of the site the user is visiting, and more. This information is anonymously transmitted to an ad platform where advertisers bid to see who has the most relevant ad to be shown on the page. Surprisingly this whole process takes place in fractions of a second. What we do is provide criteria to the ad platform that restricts ads we deem not appropriate for our service, and these ads are filtered out of the process of ads that bid to be displayed for the user. Unfortunately, an ad that is not properly defined for its content may slip by the filter. Since the ad serving process is automated, the only way we can track down the ad to have the ad platform remove it from displaying is by having the user encountering the ad to provide us with the information I outlined above. Having a bad ad slip through the filter is rare when compared to the amount of ads served across all our forums. Additionally I'd like to note that ads displayed at the top and bottom of the forum page are what allows the forums to be free for use. This is agreed to in the terms of service when signing up to use our service. We however provide an ad-free upgrade option for those that prefer not to have ads at all on the forum.

Hi Scott
Thank you for taking the time to explain however it is unacceptable for me to see such ads on the forum.
Also the ads are over the front of the forum so you can not see some of it.
Your forum looks good and works good apart from the ads.
I am going to delete the forum due to such ads.

Your forum looks good and works good apart from the ads. I am going to delete the forum due to such ads. Pelo I'm sorry the ads are an issue for you. As I stated previously, the inappropriate ads are rare and we agree they are unacceptable which is why we take steps to remove them when notified with the information needed to identify them. (And just a reminder that not everyone sees the same ad.) In general, members should only see one ad at the top and one ad at the bottom of the forum. These ads should not be covering any content. Guests or visitors (those not logged in) - will see a third ad at the very bottom of the forum that is negligible in what it may cover and does have an "x" to the right that when clicked will remove the ad from the page. Since your forum is relatively new, I would encourage you to give it a chance while you build your content on the forum.
