Unfortunately I can't see your site so I don't know how to guide you further. But it sounds like you're not editing the correct things, and you're winding up editing too much / not enough as the code isn't correctly parsing. I'd be happy to help if you want to provide a URL, but if not a PB admin will have to take a peek during business hours tomorrow (9am to 5pm pacific/-8 gmt) Thanks for the help. I've restored the defaults. I don't know how to make it viewable only by admin, so I've just settled on having it completely removed from the mini/micro profile on each post. Instead of editing new code in, I've just deleted the code that shows the custom title on the mini/micro profiles entirely. It means the admin can't see it either, but to be honest it doesn't matter as we can still see it in the members list (and the members can't!)

Instead of editing new code in, I've just deleted the code that shows the custom title on the mini/micro profiles entirely. It means the admin can't see it either, but to be honest it doesn't matter as we can still see it in the members list (and the members can't!) so basically, if you want to make ANYTHING staff only, you need to surround that thing with this: {if $[current_user.is_staff]}STAFF THING HERE{/if} When you do this, make sure that you're either 100% confident that putting HTML between those tags OR only wrap it around plain text. If you want them specifically be admin-level people, it's: {if $[current_user.can_admin]}ADMIN ONLY THING HERE{/if} It's the same syntax irrespective of what template you're on. If you wind up only doing text and it's inside something like the cell of a table, you might just show an empty cell, so there are cases wherein you need to include HTML in it -- but if this is the case, you may need to adjust some of that HTML and possibly some CSS to make it not so obvious there's stuff missing. If you're at the default now, you would do it like this: MINI PROFILE (replace line 13) {if $[current_user.is_staff]}{if $[user.custom_title]}$[user.custom_title]<br />{/if}{/if}
Micro profile doesn't have the title by default, though, so did you add that in / do you still want it there?

That works in the mobile browser but on my test user account who doesn't have admin privileges, if I change to desktop view it can still see the custom title on the mini profile! At the moment I'm just going to leave it completely deleted to avoid any problems. I don't know why it still shows in desktop view but doesn't in mobile view. That seems very strange to me.

Ok I've fixed that issue. I'm just having one last problem. I'm trying to hide the entire member's list from anyone who isn't admin. I've managed to do that on the desktop version of the members list, but when I change it to mobile, it still shows the list. Is there a reason for that? Are there different code areas for desktop vs mobile?

This is very strange - the changes should be on desktop but not mobile. The fact that it's reversed is ... iffy at best. I see you resolved it, mind saying how? Ok I've fixed that issue. The only way around this is to disable mobile view (admin > upgrades > experiments), tho unless your theme is designed to be responsive, it will offer a suboptimal user experience in areas. As to why this is the case, it's because v5 was released in 2013 which means that they were trying to be accommodating of data caps for online mobile usage. Obviously now this isn't an issue for a vast majority of people, but PB isn't working on further developments so we will be subject to this situation until further notice.

The first part was resolved because I was stupid and my test account still had admin privileges. As for the second part, it's fine for now. Fortunately the test account can't see any sensitive data as I've hidden the members' email and custom title columns unless viewing as admin, and that will have to do. I really want to thank you for all the support and help. Sorry if I've seemed like a complete newb about it all. First time setting up a forum and working with and incredibly strict boss with lots of strict requirements. Thanks again!

We all have to start somewhere, and tbh the PB of now is a lot harder to really absorb than the PB that I started with ~18 years ago so cut yourself some slack. For what it's worth, you can simply hide the link to the member list from mobile -- in the admin panel, under settings, you should be able to adjust the navigation and toggle whether or not the option appears on the mobile version drop-down. This won't hide it if they manually enter the /members part of the URL, but it will at least make it more inconvenient to see.
