lynx i don't understand what you means with developer guidelines i several years ago had a forum in another paltform and before i redone here i had a script that allows this thing but there are no violations in any mode it was a creation of a script maker for all forums that if their staffers want it can have it sincerely i can understand that maybe it's not easy create these things i speak as one that don't make it absolutely this is certain but thinks that if i have a particular thing in my forum don't do a offense to someone i want say if i have all posts write in purple i not offend someone that in another forum preferred write them in red without a plugin then yes obviously it's possible change the color of font manually when we want but certainly i can't do this each hour or more it's senseless in my opinion it's not even a question of have the time to do it however if for developers maybe you intend the administrator/s of the forum i'm alone and in it i do all that must be done alone and i think that never someone come to join me

It is still ambiguous as to what is being requested, making the mechanics of such a plugin ambiguous and therefore very difficult to gauge the feasibility of such a plugin. - color chosen at time of writing based on time of day and affecting only that post (inline CSS)
- color chosen based on time of day and affecting all existing posts during that time window and cycling throughout the day (rotating CSS)
- color chosen via the timestamp on the existing post and matched up with the chosen color defined for the timeframe and affecting all viewed posts (charted CSS)
- some other interpretation...

Do you want one bedroom or twelve? Should it be multiple floors and if so, what kind of staircase? What sort of windows... In my last reply, I gave you three separate ways to interpret that request. A competent builder is not going to run out and buy building materials without knowing what the dimensions and type of house would call for. A code is a set of instructions put together in sequence so a code that does x.y.z will not have the same set of instructions as a code meant to do a.b.c. You can't ask that someone start building without first having a clear vision in their head of what it is that is getting built. Plugin requests should contain as much information as possible on how you envision it should operate. You said you had the code installed on another forum provider so you should have a crystal clear vision of how it operated and can detail that operation here. The Plugins Request Board is governed by the rules of this forum AND by the board specific rules listed below: Purpose:Plugins Request is a board for requesting a plugin to be developed by a volunteer member. Since the coders are volunteers, remain patient for your request to be addressed. Bumping:You may bump your thread once every 24 hours, however if you have additional information to add, you should modify your last post. Board Specific Rules:- Prior to making a request, check the plugin database and the currently open request threads first.
- Make only one plugin request per thread.
- No more than 3 open requests at a time.
- Plugin requests should be for a desired task and not a laundry list of functions you would like to see as a plugin.
- If you no longer need the plugin, make a post in your thread stating you no longer need assistance.
Submitting a Request:Include all relevant information: - Use a descriptive thread title (generally the purpose of the plugin)
- A forum URL
- Clear description of what the plugin is supposed to do and/or what is achieved by using the plugin.
- Include any pictures or links that help describe the function of the plugin’s purpose.
Things to Consider Prior to Making Your Request:Is the plugin you're requesting useful for every forum on ProBoards or just your own? Even if you have a super cool plugin idea, plugins can take a long time to create depending on the complexity of the request. Whether or not the plugin will be widely used may be a factor in whether or not your request is accepted. Plugins do not securely hide content that exists on the page beforehand. If you're looking for a plugin to restrict an existing forum feature or hide something that exists on the forum by default you'll want to take this into consideration. Plugins run after the page content loads and cannot modify the output of the page before it's received from the server. A plugin can hide an element on the page but that's not going to make the element inaccessible as the element still exists on the page so it's very much possible to circumvent the restriction put in place by the plugin. This isn't meant to outright discourage you from requesting this type of plugin, but rather to let you know beforehand that they don't actually hide your content in case you wonder one day why your users are suddenly able to bypass your plugin's restrictions. Plugins can only access data that is on the page you're currently viewing. This means that a plugin cannot reach into the forum's database to display data that doesn't already exist on the page. If data exists in the source of the page you're viewing the plugin can find it, but if something only exists on one page and you want it to instead show on every page you're unfortunately out of luck. Plugins do not load on the mobile version of the forum. This is so that plugins containing much more bandwidth-intensive material do not consume as much of the data available on users' mobile plans. If your forum is going to run in a way that is dependent on a plugin's functionality working during every post you may want to consider this before requesting that plugin's creation.

chris unfortunately i can not able to furnish accurate details of this thing that years ago i had in my previous forum i can only tell you that initially i had put in my forum inserting manually a html code initially because afterwards i had install that script with a particular panel created by its developer all taken in a forum i hadn't done anything in this panel was possible configure the font color, size, family and precisely the hours of day when you want see the configurations that you had setted in the forum that interest all forum not only a thread, a section or a post exclusively also it was possible make customization on the posts for example put a colored frame around the text that you wrote i can't even show you how it was because i don't have more that forum (i don't have create it here on proboards) and naturally i don't have any codes however it does not matter i have installed many plugins in my forum here and i'm satisfied anyway the last one just some hours ago thanks to scott who suggested it to me

Chris todge told me you wanted to know how the posts should change color and wrote me four alternatives in the discussion of his plugin - color chosen at the time of writing based on the time of day and which only affects that post (inline CSS) - color chosen based on the time of day and which affects all existing posts during that time window and scrolls throughout the day (CSS rotation) - color chosen via the timestamp on the existing post and matched to the chosen color defined for the time range and which affects all posts displayed (tracked CSS) - some other interpretations... the second alternative is my choice, I would like to set a color for all forum posts in all sections (so not just one post, those of a single discussion or a single entire section) based on the time, for example if from 3AM to 6AM choose red (#F00000) all the posts must be seen so you could make a total choice of eight colors for the text, one for every three hours starting from midnight so 0AM-3AM, 3AM-6AM, 6AM-9AM and so on, in Italy we don't use AM and PM and therefore we call 1PM 1pm but if you prefer the American time slots that's fine too this was what I did a long time ago, in addition to the color I could also change the font type (for example Arial) the size and put a personalization in the posts for example a colored border around the text I think I've told you everything more clearly than I can't really be

In that case, you can accomplish that using the Condition X plugin. You can use that to change any of the CSS properties mentioned and any that I assume were forgotten or not mentioned. Even the ones that were mentioned, such as font color have no definition for what happens to sub-elements in the post such as quotes or code boxes. Condition X would be a better approach than trying to write a kitchen sink plugin, which would inevitably be disappointing since it would never exactly meet the functionality from your previous forum that now lives as nostalgia within your memory. Without a clear definition in precise terms where that definition can be used to create code, it would be a fool's errand to try and create such a plugin in my opinion. The Condition X plugin is versatile enough to handle most if not all that you are seeking to accomplish there.

<style> #content .posts .message { /* define time rotation text color */ <on date="after 2 PM <thedate/>">color:#00FF00;</on> <on date="after 4 PM <thedate/>">color:#FF00FF;</on> } </style>

There is a setting for timezone on the WHEN tab where you choose the timezone the plugin uses in its calculations (I believe it defaults to Central time USA). Once you set the plugin up as you want it should not need any other intervention to keep working on a daily basis.

chris I wrote +1 but nothing always takes the last color in the list, and that's not what should be there now That is exactly how it works; by CSS rules, the last color in the list always wins, but that last color in the list depends on the time of the day. The list is obviously organized in chronological order as shown (from earliest to latest) #content .posts .post{ .message { /* define time rotation text color */ <on date="after 1 PM <thedate/>">color:#000000;</on> <on date="after 2 PM <thedate/>">color:#00FF00;</on> <on date="after 4 PM <thedate/>">color:#FF00FF;</on> /* based on last definition of equal specificity wins */ } } If it is currently 3 pm, then the plugin removes anything that does not meet the criteria in the above code resulting in the removal of <on date="after 4 PM <thedate/>">color:#FF00FF;</on> leaving the resulting CSS for the browser to process #content .posts .post{ .message { /* define time rotation text color */ color:#000000; /*❌*/ color:#00FF00; /*✅*/ /* based on last definition of equal specificity wins */ } } If you are not seeing that then post what you have or better yet give a forum URL. It is always better to be physically at the crime scene to examine the clues yourself rather than rely on piecemeal photographs or witness statements where each witness usually has a completely different perspective on what happened.
