Where is the definition of $[thread.icons] ?

I would like to amend it to add a "Next thread" button. I know "Next thread" is in the Action menu, but I believe my users would find it more convenient as a button.

thread icons refer to the icons of stickied, locked, bookmarked, etc. they aren't buttons, just images, so you can't append or add it to this section. however, if you'd like to have a "next thread" button (presumably if you're viewing inside the thread in the list of posts, as opposed to the list of threads), that is possible.

you can use [this plugin] to pop an action out of the dropdown menu, just download it (do not open the file, it can only be read by proboards software and would look like nonsense otherwise) then upload it to the plugin settings of your admin panel. you can then configure the plugin to see which actions you'd like taken out of the action dropdown, which includes both the "previous" and "next" threads as options.
