Can you re index us please. The search function is grinding to a halt.
Side question … why do forum admins have to ask for this repeatedly? Is there anything happening at the back end to resolve this?
cheers!

Side question … why do forum admins have to ask for this repeatedly? Is there anything happening at the back end to resolve this? That might be a little like, perspective bias perhaps; you've come to support to ask for assistance, so of course, you see the other folks who have come to support to ask for assistance. There are hundreds of thousands of forums hosted with PB as a service, and only a fraction of them come here to ask for a reindex. Myself, I've only ever had to ask for one or two in the ~19 years I have had my forum. Forum indexes are generally automatic; the forums that don't need to ask for one, and for all the times you've done a search and it hasn't been an issue, the index is working as expected. Sometimes though, the index need to be triggered manually. There is definitely room for improvement in the system, of course, but feature development (which would include modifications to existing systems like indexing) is currently on indefinite hiatus. Unfortunately, that does mean that you may have to ask for additional manual indexing in the future.

Oops, sorry I meant to come back and respond after I made the reindex request. Thanks Kami for your post. Side question … why do forum admins have to ask for this repeatedly? The forum indexing process is automatic and usually remedies any inconsistencies without manual intervention. Indexing can be interrupted and so forums with high posting activity and frequent searching may be more susceptible for needing a reindex. And even though indexing usually resolves itself, it may not be immediate enough for the forum with active searching. Obviously then, forums with lower search frequency will generally not encounter any issues because the indexing process completes what it needs to do and all is in order whenever a search is performed. Just an fyi that we are monitoring the indexing process and collecting data (reindex requests among other things). If we discover there is an actual issue with one of the servers we will take corrective measures.
