Forum URL: augustafalls.freeforums.net/I'm having problems setting up a custom domain I have created a cloudflare account with the following settings: Type: CNAME Name: Augustafalls.com Content: pb.forumcustomdomain.com Proxy Status: dns only TTL: Auto On Hostinger, I have pointed the Nameserver dns to: christina.ns.cloudflare.com jack.ns.cloudflare.com I paid the $19.99 to proboards and it worked....for 30 minute! Now I get a message: augustafalls.com sent an invalid response. ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR augustafalls.freeforums.net/ works just fine.

barcelonans - I am able to load the forum using the custom domain. Are you still having an issue?

I'm still having problems. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. I have asked others to try and they cannot get into the site. Today, this morning it failed and this afternoon it does not work. I have tried it from PC's, Mac's, Google phones, i-phones and firesticks. It fails more than it works. At this point the forum is unusable. If I use the augustafalls.freeforums.net/ instead of augustafalls.com, as soon as I press login, it switches to an augustafalls.com url and fails.

barcelonans - While we get this sorted for you, you should now be able to log in to the forum using augustafalls.freeforums.net Can you provide a screenshot of your DNS Records in Cloudflare please.

Hi, Here's the attached screenshot from CloudFlare. I sent an email to 6 people when I finished setting up the website and none of them could access the website. I asked them again this morning and got the same response. It is strange that now, I can access it just fine, but just got another report from Florida saying, still can't access it. No. The only thing I changed was the CNAME. The CAA records were there as a default with CloudFlare

barcelonans - those entries are not necessary for linking the linking the domain to the forum. I believe they maybe interfering with the SSL we apply. Go ahead and remove those CAA entries.

It looks like these are from the previous hosting Hostinger. Should I delete them?

barcelonans - I'd give it a couple hours. Might take a little time for the changes you made to clear/propagate.

I switched the URL default of the forum back to the custom domain. If anyone has any log in issues, have them clear their browser cookies/cache for the forum, refresh and try again. Let me know how it goes.

I finally think I have identified the problem...and it's likely my lack of knowledge of DNS and redirection! augustafalls.com works, but www.augustafalls.com does not. Do I need a second CNAME for "www", or is there something else I need to do. I've been asking people to try the "www" address and it fails. Ian J

barcelonans - Fwiw, www in URLs is outdated and a leftover 1980's invention where using www was part of the tradition of naming subdomains after the type of service: • "www" (world wide web), meaning a web server at www.example.com• "ftp" (file transfer protocol), meaning a file transfer server at ftp.example.comThere's been a steady move towards dropping www altogether. When the web started there was only www.example.com as a site's URL. Now there isn't the need to "define" the server and so example.com is more efficient and www.example.com is redundant as it's only purpose is to act as an alias for example.comAlthough not needed, if you wish to have the www option you would need to create a CNAME with www as the host and still pointing to pb.forumcustomdomain.com with proxy status as DNS only.
