Forum URL: imdb2.freeforums.net/I tried to create an account on imdb2 and I got an email saying your forum account is currently pending approval from a forum staff member. I waited for weeks and then tried to login again but wasn't able to. Then today I tried to view the forum and it says I have been banned. Why have I been banned when I never even got around to creating an account?

An admin can ban you for any reason or no reason at all and ProBoards Support will not intervene with that ban.
If they have a guest section, maybe you can try to post and ask for a resolution. If not, you shouldn't do anything to try to bypass the ban. You would only escalate the issue.

Even after clearing all my cookies and logging out of everything, it still shows as I'm banned. And my question is that my account wasn't even created so how can I be banned when I didn't even have an active account?

You said you created the account and were later banned. If you were using a VPN, perhaps you were using an IP address that was tied to previous nefarious activity on the forum. That forum is very active and big forums tend to have a screening process. However, I can't really guess why you were banned. I'm not a member there.

So, even though you weren't able to use the account yet, it had been created (it gets deleted if your registration gets denied). As far as not being able to see the forum as a guest, my guess is that your IP (possibly through a VPN, as bigballofyarn suggested) is on the forum's banned list of IP's - as bigballofyarn also stated. Disclaimer: I'm not a PB employee.
