Any Way to Create a Second 'New Icon Text'?

Okay, I know I can add any text to the 'New Icon Text' option, but is there a way for me to create an additional, separate 'New Icon Text'?
I'd like to be able to mark some threads as "NEW" and others as "UPDATED".

It would show when I edit the first post.

I like creating custom content for a computer game and I sometimes update the content, hence the need for an "Update" as opposed to a "NEW" icon. But I would still want to be able to use the "NEW" icon for when I upload new content to a new thread.
In a pinch I could use the text "NEW or UPDATED", but ideally having both available seperately would be ideal.

Rob - have you considered using Labels? Labels can be applied to individual threads whether they are marked as "new" or not.

I can't offer an ideal solution, but i would agree with what Scott posted, the Labels are a good way to go.

The reason i asked about whether you would be updating the first post or making a new post is because, unfortunately, whilst you can use the labels feature to label the topic as updated, it will always show as updated even after the viewer has read the update - unlike what the new icon does.

To mitigate this, and if you use the labels, you could include the date it was updated in the label name, and update that date every time you make an edit.

Unfortunately, there isn't an auto-expire option for the labels i'm afraid.

That's OK. Your earlier suggestion to add a date to the Label will work fine, as it will let me keep track of how long a thread has been Labeled.

Edit: Hmm, actually, I'm not sure how well adding a date to a Label would work because I typically will have several threads labeled, all with different "NEW" or "UPDATED" dates. Hmm, I know I could make multiple Labels with different dates...I dunno, I might try that, as long as it doesn't get too confusing for me.
Regardless, the Labels will work.

In addition to the label, in the post itself you could add an update notation. We do that with our Help Guide articles.
