Forum URL: (private) Hi,
As forum owner/admin, is there any way I can get a user's password reset (i.e. to a default string that we can give to them to so they can log in and change it?)
This is for a user who set their contact email addr to their work email - they changed jobs (so the original address doesn't exist any more), forgot their password and now can't use the password reset function. They have asked me if I can reset their password for them.
Alternatively, could the user's registered email addr be changed by a sysadmin to their new addr so they can change their password themselves?
The user has created a number of posts under their old account, so I'd rather not delete and recreate a new user ID for them as this would 'orphan' all their old posts.
Many thanks,
J.

Hi jnelsonThis is not possible, the only person with access to the password is the account owner, so if they no longer have access to the email they registered the account with, then there is nothing that can be done. Even the Reds, (Admin Staff) here cannot see a users password. Also the Staff here will not change a users email address, the best thing that can be done is for them to register a new account on the forum and you can then edit the post count to be the same as their old account which can stay on the forum as an archive of their posts. Sorry it is not better news.
