Importing a forum

Hi,

I have downloaded a back-up of my forum from Forums.net (the paid service) and wish to import the forum on to the Proboards.com (where is was originally) but not 100% how to do this or even if this is possible.

Can anyone help?

You cannot transfer a forums.net forum > proboards, I'm  afraid. Sorry it isn't better news.

You cannot transfer a forums.net forum > proboards, I'm  afraid. Sorry it isn't better news.

Oh well that's a pain, and slightly annoying as it was on ProBoards to start with then we started paying, we have paid for a good few years, since 2015 if my memory serve me well, and now it is gone as we can't continue paying for it... 

Not sure why it can't be ported as its the same forum software, the forums on both sites are identical 🤔 also Forums.net will import a forum from here for a small fee, why not the other way round?

Does not make any sense.

It's not that they can't from a technical perspective, it's that this is not a service that is offered — the "cannot" is in reference to the option not being available.

I am just a volunteer, so I cannot speak further to PB's decisions as a business. Sorry I cannot be of more assistance here, but I would check back during business hours (M-F, 9am to 5pm pacific / -8 gmt) for an official response from a PB Admin.

I understand, and I didn't think you were blaming me. I was just clarifying my volunteer status as I am sometimes mistaken for a staff member when I respond to stuff, that's all!

The option for transferring (exporting/importing/porting) forums between ProBoards (PB) and Forums.net (FDN) and vice versa ceased years ago.

While on the outside it appears the forum software is the same, there are backend differences which do not make it an easy action to port from FDN to PB (or PB to FDN).

I'm sorry I don't have a more favorable response for you.
