It helps in the beginnng at least, to have a group or page on social media where you can direct them to your forum via links in all of your social media posts. Share your forum's welcome/about message or any of your other forum posts to your group, and suggest that for further conversation they should join your forum. Of course then you need to make sure to keep the discussions to a minimum on social media, so people will go to the forum and not just chat away in your Facebook group or wherever. Depending on your forum's topic, create a group some place where you think you'll find the most prospective members (Facebook, Reddit, Youtube, TT, etc.).

enderboy - One important thing to entice users to join and participate on your forum is to have existing content. Look at it like this...let's say you saw an advertisement for a new car dealership. You drive by to check it out, but only see 5 cars on the lot. Would you stop and look? Probably not. Or you go to a store and the shelves are mostly empty with only a little bit of merchandise. Would that make you want to shop there? A forum is not much different. Users will visit a forum if the subject matter is of interest to them, or sometimes just out of curiosity - however what encourages participation is having content to engage with. Start with a variety of interesting threads to attract initial users. Regularly update with new topics to keep users engaged. When you have more content on the forum, use social media platforms to promote your forum and engage with potential users. Consider collaborating with other communities related to your niche. Make sure you foster an environment where users feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and experiences. Engage with users by participating in discussions and providing feedback. Building a successful forum takes time and effort, but stay positive, you can create a thriving community.

No, but people hate me because of how I tell them to join I'm not quite sure I know what you mean. How exactly are you telling them to join that is making them hate you?

Enderboy, It appears that your forum is new & has only been online for 2 months. I've been hosting various forums since '99. And in my experience it takes at least 3 months for any forum to become known & popular. The way it becomes popular & more active is through its abundance of content with a variety of new & interesting topics. Said content provided by you on a consistent daily basis. I'd suggest that you shift your focus from soliciting others to join & contribute to your forum to you regularly adding helpful, interesting content to it. Yeah, that'll take quite a bit of effort on your part but if you want your forum to succeed that effort is a must. Also in my experience & IMO, guests viewing your forum will most likely often outnumber the participants. Don't let that discourage you. Just keep plugging away at supplying content to your forum consistently & your forum will likely see more traffic & participation by members, who want to comment on your content or add topics themselves. In short, it's up to you to lead by example. Good luck.

Can the people in this thread please join my forum, I want active users This board is for technical support issues. While your topic is discussion based and more suited for our Running Your Forum board, I opted to let it stay here. However soliciting for users here is not appropriate. If you wish to have successful forum, please consider the advice offered to you and concentrate on adding content.
