Hi, I have numerous forums on NRL (rugby league) and Heavy Metal / Hard Rock.
Would an historical forum on Nazi Germany / Jewish Holocaust be banned on Probards. Like I said, it would be historical, not sympathizing.
Thanks

I would familiarize yourself with the ProBoards ToS to get an idea of what types of content are and aren't allowed. www.proboards.com/tosThis is just part of it.

I am not a member of the ProBoards, so take this in that context.
If you are discussing historical events and facts, and it does not veer in to promoting racism or hate, then you shouldn't have a problem.
As you asked this question, was there a specific aspect ( and could you provide an example ) of what you would be discussing that concerned you with regards to what is allowable.

slip1974 - my response would be what Craig posted. Educational and historical should be fine. If there is some aspect that you are unsure of you may PM me about it.

Thanks I run a historical forum, sort of, if you make clear in your forum rules that you do not support Nazism, Holocaust denial ore advocate genocide or other mass murder then I think you are fine.

You can definitely talk about things without promoting them, supporting them, or glorifying them.
Examples: It would be okay to share a local news story about a robbery that turned into a murder. It would NOT be okay to give tips on how to replicate the behavior, praise the killer for their act, or start a pro-murder forum.
It would be okay to discuss that a Powerball jackpot is about to break a record for the highest prize ever. It would NOT be okay to have a forum gambling pool, promote gambling, help one another buy tickets, etc.
It would be okay to discuss tragic historical events and their impact. It would NOT be okay to praise X dictator for killing people, say that X group deserved to die, or start a forum that plots to recreate this event.

Looking at your forum, my first thing i want to comment is the Yellow badge as a avatar, i do not think that is a good idea, nor the camp uniform. Second, i see no disclaimer ore rules on your forum that you are against support of Nazism, Holocaust denial ore advocating genocide or other mass murder which would be a good idea as your forum might attract the wrong kind of people due the forum name.

Can you advise on what avatars / symbols can be used? Are you saying no artwork should be used at all. Just names? I understand it's a touchy topic, but something must be shown.

You can use Avatars, but i suggest not once that are so loaded in history like a Yellow badge ore any that might cause a negative feeling to people who visit your forum.

I think Proboards need to inform me on what is allowed. How do I show the past / history without being offensive and / or supportive. Guidance needed.

I'll try and find an avatar that does not belong to a particular group of people.

I think Proboards need to inform me on what is allowed. How do I show the past / history without being offensive and / or supportive. Guidance needed. You can try to discuss things historically without having bias or an agenda. You can still share opinions, the history of what happened, and how it impacted people then and now. I see no reason for your forum to be "offensive." Of course, what is considered offensive can be subjective. Everyone is offended by different things. There obviously shouldn't be any symbols that would represent supporting hate against any group of people. Is there a specific concept or topic you're worried about? Everything depends on context, like in the examples I gave you above. There's a difference between discussing a tragic historical event and then supporting and glorifying it.
