All Chess Stats are still stuck one 1

All Chess forum response Stats are still stuck on 1.  Started on June 1 2024. Before that I was getting double-digit response.  All other forums  remain normal.  

Sorry! I just checked and this has already been responded to in the following manner:



If posting a link triggers bots to check out the source of the link, they are not just "looking" at the thread you linked to.



They most likely are determining if your forum is something they want to be associated with. It's all about SEO (search ranking) for them. This is the "authoritative" aspect of SEO. Authority in SEO refers to the perceived trustworthiness and credibility of online content or a website.



If the site you posted the link on believes it's beneficial to be associated with your forum, then when search engine bots check them out they'll say hey check out this site too (your forum). If the site you posted on doesn't believe your forum will give theirs any ranking value for search engines they most likely tell search bots to ignore following the link to your site.



So basically they send bots to look at your forum. Not all will go directly to the linked content. Some will stay behind at the entrance to look at the home page, and some may explore other areas. This would be all based the on criteria assigned to the bots by the initiating site.



Now not saying this is exactly what is happening, but is a high probable scenario.







So far nothing seems to be occurring that is out of the ordinary. Nothing is wrong.

I'm not seeing any issue with View stats being stuck.  When I visit a thread the view number increases.

Thank everyone for the feedback! Much appreciated.

Just checked the settings and they are not on private. So why some here say they cannot access the board is beyond me.

This is just for reference in case you want to check permission settings. This is what I see.

Radrook, the image in the previous post is also what I saw at first. But when I clicked-on your forum's Home button it took me to a page with your entire forum showing.

The difference seems to be with the URL in this thread:

varietygalore.boards.net/board/235/games-lichess

Once I was in your forum I copied the URL I then saw. Which was much shorter. I then copied it, left your forum & used my browser's Open Link option to test it & was taken back to your forum. The working URL is the one below. I'd suggest that anyone having trouble with the former URL click-on it to see what happens.

The Chess category is set to Members & Staff only access, which means the boards in that category follow the same access permission.

As PB staff, I'm not limited by permissions when I visit, so I didn't catch this previously. Not having guest access would explain your concern of search bots and other guests not increasing the view count of the threads on those boards. It's because they couldn't view the content. The search bots are like guests and only have access where guests have access.

That said, like I previously posted, there is nothing wrong with the view counts. They work just fine.

Problem resolved by resetting the access permission to the  entire category. Thanks for the help.
