Tag words in threads!

Are tag words able to be added to threads in order to improve search engine visibility?

You shouldn't need to add anything to your forum other than quality content in posts. Search engine optimization was already taken into consideration with the current version of the forum software.

It should be noted that search engines no longer like tag clouds and random, extraneous keywords on the page. They want appropriate keywords within the context of the content.

If your forum is viewable by guests, search engine bots will index what's available for guests to read. When I create promotions for my musician friend though, I add a pile of keywords to the bottom of my post based on how I believe people would search for him on Google. You could do variations of that, but I wouldn't encourage you do that with every post. It would not be necessary. The content of most posts should speak for themselves.

If you add words or phrases randomly to the page solely intending to make your forum more visible to search engines it can have the opposite effect. Google doesn't like that anymore. If they notice it being done your website could end up in fewer search results, not more.

ProBoards is already built to be the most visible to search engines using the industry's preferred method. All you have to do is have quality content in your posts.

This is not at all recommended for every post. I included links to all his social media accounts and different ways people search for his name or fan club at the end. I'll send you a PM.


Edit: He claims the thread has brought him a lot of extra traffic. I don't know the inner workings of Google's mind though.
