This board is for the discussion of graphics, and all that comes with it.
You can discuss:
Graphics Programs including Photoshop, PSP and Gimp
Techniques/Application Material including brushes, filters, fonts and styles.
Your work be it a signature or larger image, you can create a new thread either just showing it off or asking for critique.
Your skins as long as you just want the template rated (for the board in general use GOAYB).
General design-related discussions such as 'why do you design?', 'do you like deviantArt?', etc.
Graphics battles to improve your skills by having a contest with other members.
This board is not for:
Support questions - they belong in the Support Board.
Coding questions - they belong in the Coding Boards (top three)
Your board - for a rate on your board use GOAYB, or for promotion tips [url=click here.
Basic Rules (vital read)
- Hate, abuse, spam and swearing (inc. abbreviations) will not be tolerated.
- You must wait 24 hours before making back-to-back posts (bumping) - otherwise do not double post under any circumstances
- Do not delete a post in order to bump.
- Do not delete the first post of a thread if anyone else has replied - if in the wrong board it will be moved.
General Rules
Please read these and take them into account.
A. Do not disrespect anyone.
This will not be tolerated. Remember that "GDD is to show off your work, not your attitudes" - have some maturity when posting.
B. Images that clash with the TOS will not be tolerated.
This includes any pornography/semi-naked content. If unsure, contact a moderator.
C. Do not give one-word replies.
Replies should at least add to the discussion somewhat. Mini-modding also falls under the banned category.
D. Commenting on other peoples' work (more info)
Where possible, a full critique should be given, but if posting, ensure that there is at least a good amount that adds to the discussion ("Good work" alone is not really acceptable).
E. Do not come here with a big head.
We are all capable of good work and are all equally capable of producing bad work.
F. Please post the image you want rated.
Do not refer others to your avatar/signature/profile, actually post the image. It avoids confusion, for example if the signature is changed. Images that are over 500x250px should be posted as a link.
G. Do not recruit designers/skinners here.
You may if you wish use your signature area however to do this. Alternatively use one of the links in this thread.
Tournaments/SOTW/Competitions
If you want to run either of these, you are very welcome. However, you must get permission from a moderator first.
You are allowed 3 threads:
- One for discussion/sign up
- One for the entries
- One for the results
All details must be confirmed with staff, so PM a moderator if interested.
Battles
Battles are now located in the main GDD board.
If you wish to start a battle, you must:
- Use a relevant title ("Sig battle", "Battle: calling out X")
- State in the first post any rules of the battle (size limits, themes, etc).
- Say who you want to battle or how many spaces there are
- Say how many votes the winner needs to get
Normal bumping rules apply - use the PM system if need be.
Once the battle is accepted, all participants should make whatever image they are using (new ones are preferred, but check per battle). Please don't let this take more than a week.
Once this is all together:
- Change the title so it contains "Battle Voting" in it somewhere
- Open it to voting!
- All votes must contain a reason. Any votes without a reason will not count.
Once the required number of votes is reached, the battle can be closed and the winner declared. Please change the title to illustrate this.
