I will probably always like Mou because he was trained by Sir Bobby. Same with AVB. There was a time, when Sir Bobby came back to manage Newcastle, that Mou could have ended up being an assistant under him. Instead he went back to take his first full time managing gig in Portugal which turned out to be the right decision. Would have been interesting to see how that went if he decided to come here.

Sir Bobby and Mou would have been a great pair together at Newcastle in them days D, they could have been like the great Brian Clough & Peter Taylor when they managed Derby County and then Nottingham Forrest together, at Forest the pair achieved 2 European Cups and League Titles.

Lol, yes, pigs can fly. No, I do hope they go down with Moyes at the helm and then he gets the boot and it serves the owners right as they have had that many managers over the years and then sacking them. Big Sam done the right thing and got out and took the England job otherwise, he would have just made them a mid-table side and then they would have sacked him as they wanted more. Not sure why you don't like Moyes. Did he spit at the fans or something before he left? He was essentially used as a scapegoat at Old Trafford, and wasn't given a fair crack of the whip to build anything. Ferguson left a relatively terrible, ageing, side, which was always going to take a time to rebuild, and he wasn't afforded that opportunity. he was sacked at man utd because he was useless but i dont recall him spitting at the fans? if he did they would have slapped him

Got some excellent news for you Graham. Both our main strikers (Gayle and Mitrovic) are out for the match at the weekend. Incidentally, they happen to be the only two decent strikers in the squad. Counting on something special from the wing... know Ritchie can bang them in but haven't seen it from him yet.

We're defenders short at the moment. Our usual RB and captain, Bruno has played CB since the start of the season, but our RB Rosenior is injured so Bruno will go back to RB and either Uwe Hünemeier (just coming back from a long injury, played 60 mins in the cup in the week) or Ince (like Bambi on ice) will partner Dunk. So we have no defenders, you have no strikers...0-0 anyone?

He's much more comfortable as a number ten. Probably not good enough to carry the line on his own. Armstrong is still here but I reckon he's off out somewhere on loan. Depending on what is happening behind the scenes, they might not want to risk him but I'd give him a shot ahead of Perez up front starting. At least we're both having problems. Should be an interesting tie. Game might end up being won in midfield!

Almost as impressive as Shane Duffy managing to score three own goals in less than two games. He's on two already tonight, going for the hatrick! ...and we've just signed him in time to play Newcastle tomorrow

So thanks, D for stealing Murphy Been here so long, it's a shame to see him go. A win today for Ipswich, making it two wins, two draws and a loss. Will take that, considering we have been without McGoldrick and Bishop for the most part. Norwich lost today, which is surprising, or would have been had i not seen them play last week. Not that great. Group E and Group B in the champs league looks suspiciously 'easy'.

Do feel for yous losing a genuine goalscorer to wallow on someone else's bench. Although we could use someone with a lot of experience in the division who is a proven goalscorer. I must admit my memory of him is limited to when he was at Sunderland and I never rated him, but he seems to have come into himself playing for Ipswich. Great win for us today against Brighton with no out-and-out striker and a couple of goals from set pieces, which have been few and far between over the past five years. Three in a row and three clean sheets, things feel like they're starting to look up but we've got a long, long way to go.

That is possibly what i will find disappointing, if he sits on the bench too much. But don't begrudge him the opportunity. He's been here 6 years, and been a regular, almost ever present, under 3 different managers, and the manager before that tried to sign him too, before he chose Sunderland. So there is something about him, and you'll be getting a great professional who will do a job for you. Oh, and we'd like him back when you get promoted, please! ;D Interested to see who his replacement will be. We've had another of yours on trial, and looks likely to sign - Leon best. Hopefully, however, we will pick up a lower league player who can step up. Actually starting to get a bit excited about this season now. Ward looks a great signing, and a steal [ i think Norwich fans were bemused that we got him for £500,000 and they paid £6m for Naismith... ], and if we can replace Murphy with a decent player, hopefully we can really make a push for the play-offs.

Managed to see the Hull v United match on BTSport's off and on as we had our grandsons staying for a sleepover and wee Kaiden wanted to watch some kiddies show on tv (family comes first, football second) so I recorded it and watched the match later when they were both in bed.
I am happy with the result as it was peeing down with rain and the Hull coach/manager is an ex-United coach under SAF so he had them well organised defensively so there was very little opportunity to score as the Hull players were parking the bus for the whole 90+ minutes until young Rashford came off the bench and scored the winner in injury time.
Jose still has a long way to go in erasing the memory of LVG when he was the manager at United who had the players playing horrible boring football and no attacking flair. Jose has bought the attacking flair back into United as it was when SAF was in charge.

Have to say I can't give Leon Best the strongest of recommendations, he wasn't great for us in either league and seems to have been plagued by injury since leaving us. He did inspire this excellent video, though! Grant Ward has been looking like an absolute revelation. No club footy for two weeks after this match day
