Hey SafeInSanity , no need to shout. I just went to that forum as a guest, found a thread and when I clicked on the reply button, I got the pop-up box prompting me to either login, register or cancel. I've tested this in both Chrome and Firefox. If you are not getting this prompt, then it might be something with your browser or an extension. Have you tried using an incognito window with Chrome? Also maybe try a different browser. You don't have javascript disabled in Chrome do you? I just tested with that off and rather than getting the prompt to login, I get an error message saying "You may not reply to this thread."

Hi,
It seems to be only doing it on tablets and smart phones. I know this because somebody else on the board said that it is not working for him either.
Update: No, it isn't working on my laptop either when using Google Chrome browser. I do have java script enabled in Chrome's settings also. I just tried it and it still does nothing when I click on the "login" button.
That needs to be fixed and is very annoying! It should work on every web browser and Google Chrome is the most used web browser in the world. So if it does not work with that fancy javascript code then it should be re-coded in a more stable way to make sure that it works on all browsers.

Hey wiki I just tried it on a few forums, and it works on them, but not yours, which leads me to believe something added to your forum is stopping it from working. If you have noticed it recently happening, but was fine before, have you changed or added anything recently that would coincide with this issue appearing? If not, could you try temporarily disabling all the plugins on the forum, and see if the issue is still that. That will help identify where the issue may lay.

Craig, that's odd. I was watching this thread and I tried it with Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and both my iPad and iPhone and in all cases I get the option to login/register.

Did you try clicking the login or register button on the popup? I know you weren't asking me, but I didn't click either when I was testing on my devices. I'd like to add that clicking either button produces no results on the computer. The popup sits there. However, if I click the "OK" button in any mobile browser, it takes me to the "forum registration" page.

However, if I click the "OK" button in any mobile browser, it takes me to the "forum registration" page. The mobile version uses a different script to the desktop version. Something added to the desktop version is causing a conflict which is preventing it from working. Hopefully Scott with his diagnostic tools will be able to narrow down where the issue lays

Did you try clicking the login or register button on the popup? So it's the Smiley Dropdown plugin causing this issue. The op wasn't very clear. I took it as the he was clicking on the 'reply' button and that wasn't working. However when testing on my phone I did actually click on the login/register and it worked. So this is odd that he reported is as not working on mobile devices since plugins don't work on mobile.

Yeah, i narrowed it down to that plugin, but can't quite see why. Does it work with only that plugin enabled on that forum? I've installed the plugin on my forum, and copied the same smilies, but don't have the same issue, so there may be a third party influence?

Craig, in my tests I've disabled all but that one plugin and same results. Even when disabling any custom css, templates, and headers/footers. Weird. Might be something simple we're missing, though.

For anyone else reading this thread, this is a good example of why we ask questions, and how important it is to include all information in your opening post, rather than just saying 'it doesn't work'.

The login button on the reply button pop-up window does not work on my tablet (android), does not work on my desktop (windows/Google Chrome). However, it seems to be working on my phone.

For anyone else reading this thread, this is a good example of why we ask questions, and how important it is to include all information in your opening post, rather than just saying 'it doesn't work'. I would most definitely echo that! A few occasions this month we have both assumed differently on information provided, and gone down different routes, so providing clear but concise information about the issue will always helps SafeInSanity . You are using an old version of the smilie dropdown plugin. Could up update it to the latest version, and it should fix your porblem. Note: When you 'update' the plugin by going to the plugin library and clicking 'Install' on the plugin, the forum will ask if you want to import settings from the other version. Confirm to import the settings, which will save you some work. Then you will need to go in to your manage plugins and delete the old version as the forum will not automatically do this.
