Not sure, Joe, but if anyone from the board reads this I'm working on a backup plan. Not sure how to get the word out, though.

ProBoards wouldn't take down a forum to kiss anyone's butt. <eye roll> They make their money off of the ads on forums, so shutting one down isn't a decision to be made lightly.
Forums are only taken down when
1. The forum's owner doesn't take action on a request from the abuse team to remove content that's against the Terms of Service.
2. There are such widespread problems, that the entire forum is basically against the Terms of Service.
When that's the case, no warnings are given. It would probably be a good idea to review the rules you agreed to when you created the forum.

Deleting that forum makes no sense...I've already sent an email to abuse to see if they would explain this odd action.

Please note that the abuse team will only be able, from a legal perspective, to discuss it with the forum creator (the one with the username "admin" / user ID of "1"). If that is not you, unfortunately you will not receive any information beyond the forum having been removed pursuant to Section 25a

Hi Kami...Thank you for that information. You're welcome. For transparency, depending on what the reasoning is the team may or may not be able to disclose additional details -- it really depends. I would strongly advise re-reading the ProBoards Terms of Service to ensure that nothing happened on that forum that may have violated it (specifically, anything under Section 19, Objectionable Content). PB isn't in the habit of removing forums because, as mentioned, that takes away their only source of revenue (forum ads, or revenue from upgrades to the forum like adfree). Generally if the forum is removed either a) a warning was sent to the user/1 account that was not addressed in the timeframe provided, or b) the entire forum was found to be counterproductive to the TOS. Without getting into hot topic issues, based on the opening post on this thread, I would caution that there might have been content that crossed a line from voicing dissenting opinions to content specifically prohibited by the TOS. This is just a guess, as I'm not PB staff, but should the forum be returned I would advise more care into making sure folks don't cross a line. Again, this is an apolitical post, but perhaps something to review.

Can anyone get ahold of blue? Can't do much at the moment our power is out, but I am willing to buy a domain name and host on my own server.

This would probably be better conducted over PM (with the note PMs are still subject to ProBoards Terms of Service) or over a third party application (:

No warning given. Probably a few malcontents reporting over and over. I posted for a "help" in the support forum yesterday and I am assuming someone followed that link and reported something they didn't find to their fancy. I've sent an email to proboards but I'm guessing it will be a "I'm sorry, no reason. Thank you." I am perhaps one of the most fair and understanding admin of a proboards site. I've done my best to be fair and balanced and provide a forum for a group of posters who have been together over 5 years. To come in with one click of the button and delete it all with NO WARNING seems remarkably unkind. Please, restore the board long enough to either remove what is offending or allow time to notify the members of a transfer.

What degrades a brand is to not allow what was a good administrator an opportunity to correct the issue after you point it out to him/her. People see this sort of behavior (zero warning, no notice, zero flexibility, etc) and consider it... no one in their right mind would establish anything at all important to them on a service that operates in that fashion. I know I certainly wouldn't after seeing how poorly this was handled. Maybe there were problems, in fact, I know there were. But the admin was trying to fix those issues and took action to do so many times already. I find all of this to be quite disturbing, and a very poor model regarding how to operate a business that interacts with humans. shameful really

I find all of this to be quite disturbing, and a very poor model regarding how to operate a business that interacts with humans. shameful really As mentioned: forum removals are not handled through this forum.I appreciate the emotions involved and sympathise greatly, but unfortunately voicing opinions here don't reach the abuse team -- the contact information was given earlier, but here it is again: abuseteam@proboards.comThere's only so much the folks here on the boards can do and it's already be reiterated several times. If the forum creator (username: admin / user ID: 1) reaches out to the abuse team, that would be the best way to reach whatever resolution is possible, if any. If you are not the forum creator, please do not contact the abuse team, as they are legally not able to discuss the matter with anyone other than the forum creator. Further posts here really only are just venting, and while I definitely understand the desire to do so, it is not within the scope of the tech support board to handle. We can sit here and speculate and give educated guesses, but that's all it is -- we lack the information to be further helpful, and the PB staff here on the tech support board also lack the information to make informed comments.
