Ricky, I have a question that pertains to all this. Anna was still able to log in and post at my site, even though she was 'banned; from several other pb sites. If your server banned her wouldn't that cover all pb sites? Yes, including the support forum here. If she was able to login and post on your forum while her home IP was banned, she was likely posting with a different IP that is not banned, such as an internet cafe that she posted with originally in this topic No that was my home PC where I was able to post on BLC's forum. Maybe if you access a proboards forum before the ban takes affect you can stay there despite the ban. I'm pretty sure I would have been banned there too, if I logged out and tried to log in again.

I guess I jumped the gun with the hacker attack suspicion. This happened at the same time when a global mod deleted after having a disagreement with me and others. CloudFlare's false claim that the forum admins/owners were banning me made me think it was the work of an insider and a hacker. I apologise to the ex mod for the suspicion, but CloudFlair has to state "CloudFlair banned you" to stop nonsensical and unjust suspicions from surfacing.

Would have been by luck then; The 1006 ban is a complete server ban, so she shouldn't have been able to access anywhere. I went to TrueBlueLiberty first where I was already logged in. Because of the computer start problems I was closing all my windows when I shut the PC down except one and that was TBL this time. When I tried to log into the other pb forums I got the ban notices, but TBL remained unaffected.

It's worth noting that a request to the server just means a general connection to the server. But in order to be flagged by the system, there would have been many requests to the server in a very short amount of time. Just as some examples of what we're talking about, if you were to rapidly click the Like button on a single post to rapidly like and unlike a post constantly, hold the F5 key down on your keyboard to rapidly refresh a page, or make multiple posts at the same time, these would be a few common examples of what would cause an automatic system ban. I have high doubts it's hacker related I was having trouble starting my PC lately and it was logging into the same site a dozen times or more when I started it. Maybe that caused the trouble. I'm no computer wizard and I let the problem grow. On one pb forum and only one I remained unbanned and was able to post and pm normally.
I deleted a bunch of junk data on my PC and deleted some programs that I never use. I hope the problem is solved now.
I do feel it's unfair that CloudFlair claimed the website owner apparently meaning the admin banned me. This could cause a lot of unneccesary drama, if Cloudware's claim is believed. Gibby was shocked and would never ban me nor would the admins on the other forum where I got Cloudware's ban and false claim. Cloudware isn't the forum owner or is it?
Thanks for your concern RickyZ.

I made no requests from any servers and wasn't online here at all in the last week or so? This is really strange. I put up a handfull of posts went to bed for 6 hours and noticed I was "banned" when I tried to log in. Could someone have misused by home PC IP to do this? Or is there a disturbance in my home PC? Hackers are getting more clever than ever. My PC has slowed down too-that might be the problem. This never happened before.

Forum URL: gibbysplace.freeforums.net/forumThis is all I see when I try to log in here from my home PC. I'm at an internet cafe now, which apparently isn't affected. I think I know who is behind the hacker attack and I was foolishly a member of his lonely forum. He was also an ex Global Mod at Gibby's, if my suspicions are correct. Is it possible for any of you guys to reverse the hacker attack fake ban here and elsewhere that the hacker imposed on my PC at home? The pb abuse center confirms that my home PC IP is not banned here, but the hacker apparently got into my PC for the fake ban. Your help is greatly appreciated.

TOS section 25(a): WITHOUT LIMITING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF THIS AGREEMENT, PROBOARDS RESERVES THE RIGHT TO, IN PROBOARDS' SOLE DISCRETION AND WITHOUT NOTICE OR LIABILITY, DENY USE OF THE WEBSITE AND/OR SERVICES TO ANY PERSON FOR ANY REASON OR FOR NO REASON AT ALL, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION FOR ANY BREACH OR SUSPECTED BREACH OF ANY REPRESENTATION, WARRANTY OR COVENANT CONTAINED IN THIS AGREEMENT, OR OF ANY APPLICABLE LAW OR REGULATION. ________________________________________ I'm posting this here just in case anyone else from SAO comes looking. -Ace It does bother me that a forum could be taken down for no reason. I hope these decisions can be appealed and reversed. About half a year ago our forum gibbysplace.freeforums.net/forum received a complaint about the section called "Gibby's Pub" which had a password for members 18 years and over. We've always had the suspicion that the pb admin who demanded that this section be closed was pandering to a member, who wanted to cause use trouble because she didn't like a few controversial debate threads. Gibby's Pub had absolutely no nudity, porn, etc. nothing graphic. The pb admin complaint came a few days after this certain forum member got the password.
Now this member is very upset over a debate thread on "multiculturalism" and feels the debate should be censored and the thread deleted. There are no racist statements, no hatred is expressed towards any ethnicity. The fact that some people like me the author of this thread feel an ethnic mosaic is superior on the whole to the multicultural melting pot for all people is expressed and defended. Counter arguments are present too.
There was no talk of trying to take back multicultural areas or forcing an apartheid like condition. Just let the status quo of ethnically monolithic communities remain with their neighborhood schools was the argument on one side. The poster an immigrant from India choose to be offended. We've assured her that we condemn the British colonisation of her native country and no one is saying any people are inferior, but that many would simply prefer to live among their own people, with a shared heritage. The complaining poster is the same one that got the password to Gibby's Pub 2 days before a pb admin complaint claim. So we temporarily took the thread into the staffroom until things cool down. We certainly don't want to take risks
I'm the author of this thread and have bad personal experiences from "multiculturalism" . I posted the thread on another forum and it's still being debated. biglinmarshall.proboards.com/thread/6159/failure-multiculturalism
Certainly pb admins have their own personal opinions too, but chould a pb admin who also chooses to be offended by a thread like this simply on his/her own delete the entire forum? No appeal, no chance to reverse the decision?

Oh that was mistake. A google search lets you get away with that it seems. I noticed that you have log in troubles if you have a space before your log-in name too.

Hey ?anna?, For the global account situation, since v5 requires you to create a global account with your e-mail address and that global account should work to contain every forum account you make on every forum, it is recommended that you maintain just one global account/e-mail address to most effectively take advantage of the forum- and account-switch tools that allow you to quickly switch to another account (even on another forum) with just a few clicks. Like I mentioned, though, that requires that you have all your forum accounts on just one global account. If you've already registered other global accounts and have created forum accounts under them, we can help you unlink them from the unused global accounts and re-link them to your primary global account if you wish. For the search issues, that's peculiar. Our search system has been upgraded and overhauled for v5 to perform much better than the previous version, and we've added in a good number of features to enhance the ways you're able to search. Can you elaborate a bit more for me on what's disappointing you about the search system? Maybe I can shed some light on the situation. Sorry I took so long to answer. As a rule a google search is better than a proboard forum search in locating old topics. Here's a search for Oscar Pistorius The Google search locates the topic: www.google.com/#q=+Oscar+Pistorius+biglinmarshall+proboards The proboards forum search fails. biglinmarshall.proboards.com/search/results?what_at_least_one=+Oscar+Pistorius&when_days=500&when_hours=9999999&who_only_made_by=0&display_as=0

Hi ?anna?, For your example, that page that does not have the "remember me" option, does the page say "Link" toward the top with some text "You have successfully logged into your ProBoards global account." immediately after? Yes it does Ricky! I found that I can go to my Global Account and access the forums with the e-mail address that I usually use to register. However I registered with an alternate e-mail address on some pb forums and those forums will not show up in the Global account and I can't access them there. So I guess I have to use only one e-mail address on all pb forums or continue logging in with my e-mail for some forums. I guess I can live with that.
I'm disappointed with the forum search engine after the upgrade. It's almost impossible to find posts and old threads using it. I have much more success if I just do a google search and enter: proboards + forum name + key word(s). Of course the Google search doesn't work on members only viewing pb forums.
I don't want to sound like a complainer, but I do miss functions of the pre-upgrade system such as the superior forum search engine. Feel free to move this post to an appropriate on topic thread too!

Since Gibby mentioned no more trouble logging in since Ricky helped out, are you still experiencing issues with logging in ?anna?? Hi David, Since I'm often at Gibby's Place I have no problem logging in there at say internet cafes. On this pb forum ( tunesandspoons1.proboards.com/ ) I registered with a different e-mail address and sometimes don't log in for extended periods. At internet cafes the log in for this site usually appears without the "remember me" box and then it seems I need to log in with my e-mail.

Forum URL: gibbysplace.freeforums.netMyself and other members of my board are having major problems with staying logged on to the board. I sign in then go to a page and it throws me straight back out , same problem for others to , cannot stay logged on. Please help. Thanks. Hi Gibby, Just to clarify, after you visit the login page and type in your username and password, you're then brought to the index page of the forum in question but still appear as being logged out? If so, since it seems you're able to login to the support forum here just fine, can you login to your Support account here and once that's done click the icon found in the PB bar at the lower-right hand corner of the page. Once that's clicked, you should see a list of forums and accounts that you participate with on other ProBoards forums. Can you try clicking on your account for the gibbysplace.freeforums.net forum and see if you're able to login with this? Or do you encounter the same issue? Log in problems seem to be a direct result of the "upgrade". I sometimes visit internet cafes and everytime I try to log in to a proboard forum I get the same old roundabout with the upgrade and then I have to log in with my e-mail address losing time that I didn't loose with the more stabile, bug free earlier system. Sometimes because of this I stay logged in at the internet cafes if I plan to return in the near future, but there's always a risk then that a stranger could do whatever he wants with my accoint in the internet cafe. I really wish I could always just log in with my username and password. Proboards has lost plenty of active members because of the psuedo-upgrade log in complications. Hi ?anna?, One piece of advice I can give is to not login with your email address. You can still login with your username and password like before, and is what I would recommend. If you are trying with your username and password and still encounter problems, can you let me know of any error messages you receive? Also wanted to note that this isn't a widespread problem. A large majority of forums have upgraded to v5 since it's launch last April (and many upgraded during the beta phase in January) and we have actually seen a spike in activity levels rather than a drop. After doing support here for 4 years, 3 of them helping with the v4 software, I can promise you that v4 also had its share of topics about login issues as well so this really isn't anything new. Unfortunately it's just something to do with the way cookies are handled in web browsers, which all internet services have to work with. I have to correct myself here. If I log in from an internet cafe or my pc after logging out from a pb forum I've succeeded in logging in with my username always if the "Remember me" box appears with the log in and I check it. If the "Remember me" box is not there I get informed that I've logged into an upgraded account even if I just logged out yesterday and then generally I have to log out below because I can't reach the forum logged in otherwise. I log in with my e-mail then. I'm sure you've explained a simple solution dozens of times on this forum and it must be frustrating to do so again.
And also thanks again for straightening out our forum.

It looks like I missed some code in the global header that worked with the horoscope code in the footer which may have been causing some additional problems. That should be removed now too (and I updated my post for you Gibby here to include what was removed, for your reference). Can you let me know if it's better for you ?anna?? Thanks Ricky, It looks better and I could put up this welcome thread there for you and didn't get kicked around: gibbysplace.freeforums.net/thread/2092/welcome-rickypb
I'm still a little uneasy, but I guess that's typical for us "non-technicans"!
