What I want to know is what has made you want to be the admin of your forum instead of just joining an already established forum and helping them to be successful? Well, for obvious reasons, I wanted to have the ability to control how I felt a forum should be moderated. I've learned that it's not always best to do so with revenge in your heart or to have to show other people how good you really are. My other reason that I chose to be the administrator is because I wanted to give people something to enjoy, laugh, love and go to to have fun. Most people underestimate my ability for sound judgment but I take being a staff member of any forum very seriously because it's just like a job in real life. I go to my job to do my job the way I was told to do it, no other way. Unless I have an idea or ideas, I generally make sure the job is done the right way, which is the way I was told to do it. Do you feel you can create a better forum than the other people who already have one?I would like to think I can. It's not like ProBoards competing to be the best forum service provider as it is for forums that are alike to compete with each other to become the best. Me, I don't compete to be the best. If one day, my forum becomes great and one of the best, so be it. I'm just here to have fun with other people who enjoy to genuinely have fun. But I do want to make sure my forum becomes something rather then nothing. So really, what made you want to become the admin of your own forum and has it worked out for you?So far, it is working for me. I haven't had any issues other then a small incident that I took care of, which dealt with banning someone. I just hope it continues to work for me because I know what I can do and I just hope people have that same confidence in me as I do in myself.

Honestly? I've been the main admin of many sites in the past, but I decided to give up on that. I'm not the best administrator in the world. I much prefer being a cooperative administrator or a moderator, but now duty has called again as a main administrator. The only reason why I create forums is if something of their type are not already in existence, with a sub reason being that I like to run them in a certain way.

Well, here I come mingling in! What I want to know is what has made you want to be the admin of your forum instead of just joining an already established forum and helping them to be successful? I made my own forum (The dragon's legend) because I haven't seen any other Spyro rpgs that were more than just a one-liner forum. And last time I joined a forum, there was some major favoritism going on, everyone who didn't agree with the admin or her friends got harassed and eventually left or was banned. Do you feel you can create a better forum than the other people who already have one? Talking about Spyro rpgs, I must admit that that was the though what made me break my promise (I promised myself that I wouldn't make any more forums, since most of them went inactive after some time) and create The dragon's legend. I already had some ideas for the skin and definitely the plot. So really, what made you want to become the admin of your own forum and has it worked out for you? Well, if I think really hard about it, it is probably the favoritism on that other forum that caused me to make The dragon's legend. I just hated it to see people being chased away by the admin's friends, and not being able to do something about it. Sure, I could say something, but then everyone would just turn on me. So I wanted to be in charge of everything myself, in hopes of giving others an example of how to be an admin without favoritism.

I want to be an admin for a few reasons. One is to meet new people. Joining a forum with plenty of members may be harder to get in to since everyone already had their own groups and such. Two is because I have an idea I'd like to do. The specific idea I have may not have been created yet and sifting through every forum there is for it would take forever. Three is to help me with my coding skills. I suck at coding (as all the people who have helped me or browsed the support and coding support boards can say), so experiencing problems with it can help me improve it, even if it is just changing already existing codes or learning where and how to place them.

The forum I'm currently Admin of, I was asked to join it and be Admin from Day 1. It wasn't my idea, it was just something someone else was doing and they asked whether I'd like to be a part of it. Being an Administrator requires a lot of dedication and I feel you should start a new forum on a topic that's already been beaten to death only if you think you can do it in some fashion that's going to be a little different from what everyone else has been doing so far.
If you're going to do it the same way and the only thing you're going to change is the graphics and the look and feel of the forum, you're not going to get too far.
Additionally, a lot of people don't like being a member of a forum that's based on a topic that they're an expert of, they'd rather just run the entire show by themselves which in certain cases can be good.

being an admin gives me a sense of control and responsibility. it lets me show my opinions and my views in my ways. it lets me bring something to people that they may have never seen before. but it's also a lot of hard work. so if you want to be an admin, you need to be careful and realize what you are getting yoruself into

What I want to know is what has made you want to be the admin of your forum instead of just joining an already established forum and helping them to be successful? Well, I'm an incredibly creative person. If I do something, it'll be crazy and 'Out there'. Alot of the people at the Forum I was at(Which ended when life took over all of our situations) were very backhanded with how they told me that they didn't like my ideas. They told me midway through everything, and through the admin that was there, who wasn't even there most of the time. The plot is also my own creation, and something me and a friend had wanted to do together.
As fior the successful Part, We're still getting on our feet, lolz. Promoting is quite hard xD
Do you feel you can create a better forum than the other people who already have one? No, I feel everyone's is good in their own way. I've never once thought My Roleplay was better than anyone else's
So really, what made you want to become the admin of your own forum and has it worked out for you?
I was sick of the Restrictions and backstabbing. I wanted to be free creatively. It has done exactly what I intended on it doing for me :3

I mainly became admin by default. When I create a site, it's not because I think I can do X better than another person, but that there are not (or at the time were not) any proboards sites of its type that I knew about. For instance, I really wanted to find a Left 4 Dead RP. I could not find one, so I made one. Ditto when I had a Terminator site way back when.

Why?
Because at first I didn't have anything to do and I absolutely love creating graphics, and designing forums are so much fun. I wanted to feeling of my board becoming a success, something I could be proud of if it does reach those heights. Hah. I also wanted to have to ability to control how I felt it should be moderated, as ily' wrote. I've been at so many boards where people let 'rage' blind them and smacks the 'offending' user with a banhammer without much reason.

I thoroughly enjoy meeting and making friends, and it seems forums have a way of giving me the chance to meet ppl from all walks of life and all over God's country! I enjoy hearing other's opinions and learning about them and their lifestyles! Life's just too short, and the journey, we travel too rough to go it alone! I also hope to cheer someone's day and make a difference in the lives that cross my path.

I love the actual website creation, to be able to organize some sort of story that others can enjoy in an RP form is really the best thing i've ever done on the internet, hence why I don't mind being an admin. I try and support other websites but most of the successful (and still active) ones have way too many members for my taste. Granted, there are tons of good ones out there, just not what i'm looking for.

I've been a Moderator on a highly successful Military Antiquity Collectors forum for several years. The current membership is 7,749. However, this forum has 54 main boards and a multitude of sub-boards for the many different categories that need to be dealt with.
The category that I mainly collect is awash with beginning collectors who are constantly asking the same questions without first looking at the reference sections that we designed specifically for this purpose.
As a result, the advanced collectors simply gave up posting since their posts were continually shoved down the board by newbie questions. So, I designed an advanced collectors board for just those collectors. It has been a tremendous success and has been well received. We designed it as a members only site requiring an invitation from another member to join. As a result, I now have advanced collectors on the forum who are authors, historians and some of the most renowned authorities in their field. It's the perfect compliment to the general military antiquities site that I'm still moderating.

Well, I guess Making websites Isn't what everyone would like to see and do. Well My reason Is that most people want to have a proper "look at" in how it feels to have full power of the particular forums. I'm a new member and I Joined to have my say, Not To spam, troll and all that. But to have a proper feel. Back to topic. Most people want to become admin because of the interactive thought of being "higher" than most other people. Normally an Admin Picks you to have the particular job because they know that your a good person that has there say. You are also sociable which is one of the most important skills of being a Mod or an Admin. I could Say That most normal registered users think that they want to be Admin so that they could tell other what to do. A Real Registered user wouldn't WANT to become Admin they would have their say. I used to be one of the people that Admins are higher than normal members. I Guess that quickly changed in another forum and I just thought like me. That's the best thing to do. Being All Show-Off Criticizing users when your not supposed doesn't make the owner of the forums make you Admin. That is just going to make the Admin try to avoid you. So changing your personality online still affects you in the inside because you know that you aren't you. That was something that I used to do a lot, I used to change how I reacted to particular things so I can "impress" the Admin Well If you read this. Thank you because most people don't really like my says. By: "me" Birdeh
