I became an admin because I love plot way too much. When I would join a site with a site wide plot I expected the plot to move. Usually it just became character meet character and if there was a power system they would power their characters up. It felt boring being one of the few having a character try to create a story. So I made a site where story was how you played. You find info to gain power and new ways to survive. This leads to story points which lead to a moving plot. Then I just made sure to give creative freedom to members. I'm currently working on the whole gathering members thing but I've been staff before so I know how to wait.
Plus I like survival games so why wouldn't I want to make a survival RP?

I became an admin and created a site for a specific reason. I had collaborated with multiple people on a completely original plot, and thought it deserved to be shared, whether people would appreciate the concept or not. I love seeing th talent that flows through people's work, and if I can help them understand the site, or further develop their ideas, then that's an accomplishment to me.
I love to help, so being the admin seemed like a no brainer. I don't mind if my members ask me for clarification, or if a guest needs a question answered. The overall plot of my board is different, still in the stages to be molded by my members into something wonderfully unique and fun. I encourage suggestions on site development, and even though my member count isn't what I want it to be, I still apreciate the people who are there and the people who have helped me.
Being the admin for Remedy is a personal challenge, code wise and content wise. I've had tons of help from people much more gifted than me, and to see a mixture of my work, the work of good friends and new aquaintances on one tangible 'canvas', is one of the most accomplished feelings to have.
So, I became admin to spread a concept around, a board that has no movie reference or series of books to base off of, becuase it's fun despite any hinderances that come my way.

I'm going to be honest about this one, I want to be an admin because I very much enjoy being in control.
It is difficult for me to just be a regular member of a forum because I have experience being an Admin and it makes it easier for me to see the things that the other Admin is doing that I consider to be a mistake.
So that's why I tend to want to be an Admin more, I know I make mistakes too.... but they don't irritate me as much as other people's mistakes.

I had noobody to talk to about my sites subject matter. So I created a forum solely to discuss that topic and it just took off.
That and I also like running the show. I've been on forums where the admins sucked and I wanted to be better and cooler a an admin

I was a part of a forum for several years but over time that forum really started to suck. Members were out of control, so many stupid people posting and the admins were terrible (there was little to no moderation at all). Being one of the most active and respected regulars on the forum I offered to help out and make the forum better as I felt I had a lot of great ideas, but they wouldn't have any of it. One of my biggest pet peeves was the lack of organization on it. They had many, many threads going on the same topic, and after a month or so entire threads would be deleted to keep the forum "cleaner." Plus there was only 2 sections for discussion on many different topics, it was just chaos! After a while a few us had had enough and I decided I'd start my own forum (not on the same topic) but something similiar. I started it up and several members from that forum made the jump over and help me get established. Eventually they totally abandoned that other site completely. That other forum still exists and it hasn't changed one bit on all aspects in at least 3 years. If I wanted to I could have done the exact same subject as them and taken over their entire core members in a matter of months by creating a much better forum experience. But I didn't want the majority of their idiotic members and in the end I felt the subject was somewhat limiting. Anyway, I wanted to create an interesting and organized and fun place to post on a topic I enjoy very much (movies). There's a lot of other forums related to movies but a lot of them are so disorganized or there's so many members that you're just a number and your posts gets lost in the shuffle. I don't have a ton of members but have a core group and it's a more personal experience. I just wanted to make as great of a forum experience for the members as I knew I could, give them as many options, functions, and features as I knew I would have wanted, an experience I thought I could bring to that other forum. I like to be in control and have a unique vision for what I want in a forum, but I also let my members have a say, if they don't like something or want something added or taken away, I hear them out and for the most part give them what they want (within reason). But yeah, you have to keep your members happy. I think most enjoy the experience I give them and don't limit them to what they can bring to the forum by just giving them the bare minium for functions and features. I don't want my members to feel limited to what they can do, and in the end it makes for a better forum overall. Anyway, that's the long answer of why I became and admin.

I’ll admit that I created a site and became an admin because I know what I’m doing. I’ve been on several sites over the years with admins that were awful. They hounded the members about activity but they wouldn’t post for a month at a time. It was obnoxious and I couldn’t take it anymore. I actually took a break from RPing for a long time before coming back and starting a site of my own.
I don’t like hypocrites so I look at it this way. ‘If an admin doesn’t follow their own rules…why should anyone else?’.

I became an admin because I loved role playing but, I wanted to try and create my own. I wanted to make it how I liked, and I wanted it to be open to all. Something more welcoming then a few of the sites I had joined only to get shoved off to the side. I also wanted to make a site with my own rules, I guess so I could choose to make it how I wanted, I also wanted to see how hard it was to make an active site. It's hard. Lol! But, it's very fun and I made a few good friends along the way, my site may not be active but we have a few members that are very loyal, I suppose that's all I really need! LOL!

I'm going to be the admin of a forum for the very simple fact that I don't know anyone else who has a remotely decent board in the setting. I've looked and looked but could never find a really good board, so I'm resorting to making my own where I can make the rules, control the plot, and all around call the shots.
In truth, I'd rather not be an admin and have all the responsibility of it. I'd rather just be a prominent member who has some small amount of clout if I want to make a suggestion. But waiting for a good board and then being at the whim of someone who could easily just drop the whole thing and tell everyone to piss off just isn't appealing anymore.

hehehe, I didn't want to be an admin. well I was an admin of my own site at one point, but then I figured out how much commitment it takes to run a site. it overwhelmed me and the site soon died. I was young so I learned a valuble lesson and I wasn't planning on being an admin again. I became an admin again because I was friends with the admin and a trusted staff member so she passed down the admin title to me and I was just like D= not again. well I'm better at running a site now and can handle the responsibility better. I keep running the site because I still enjoy it and it's plot line is interesting, and I haven't seen a lot of dog/wolf rps do something like it. plus I don't like how most other wolf/dog rps are organized.

We run ad free now.. And I have 3 people running it..
I drink more beer.
Thank you proboards..

I became an admin so I could access the site's headers and footers.
adding so Im not breaking the rules (thought I was in GT when I replied)
I had access to h/f on a coule other sites, but not full control. if I wanted to be able to write out a code for anything, I needed to be able to create/modify boards as well as manipulate members. adding a code to an already running forum is one thing, but making a big mistake on someone else's forum would probably give them an aneurysm.
I can break WC all I want and no one can say anything about it. well I guess they can but I dont have to pay attention.

I actually created my board on a whim, after hearing a rumor that the MSN Money board was going to be shutting down. No one knew if it was true at the time, but I'd been an admin on another Proboard and was familiar with the tools. So, I created a replacement MSN Money board, "just in case".
We soon found out the rumor was fact, and I had a large percentage of the old board join mine. As MSN continued to shut down their boards, I got more people. Actually, there are probably 8-10 different Proboards with former MSN people on them that I know of, and several of us share members back and forth.
It's been WAY crazier than I thought it would be, and I probably should have thought it through a little better before I just jumped in. I was really lucky though, because a lot of the MSN moderators came over too, and they have given me tons of invaluable advice.

I have been an Admin on 2 forums and asked to be on a few others, but I was already too busy.
After helping other people run their forums for over 8 years I just got tired of all the BS that happens on forums, or if the "owner" has some rules and ideas you don't really agree with, or their ego gets so inflated their head is about to explode, it is time to move on.
It's very refreshing to have your very own forum.

I began my first forum a loooong time ago, and it never picked up. After that, I swore I'd never pick up another one. It was stressful and disappointing when nobody really took interest in it (plus I was awful at doing adverts). Eventually I ended up landing a moderator position on another forum I had been a member of for a while and while i was really shy at fist, I've come to really enjoy it, even when things start looking down and members seem to lose morale.
Later down the road, I re-discovered Okami though an LP on youTube. I had forgotten how much I loved it. I won't bore with the dirty little deets, but eventually I realized one Very Important Fact: I had to RP in the Okami universe. Not just as a member. I had a vision. I had to make one of my own. I had gotten some more experience in the staff-side of forum workings by that point, so I figured...sure. Why not.
So here I am, mingling with other forum admins and slowly but surely building my magnum opus. Honestly, it's not so much about being in power for me. It's just that I love this game. I love it so much. It's both pitiful and awesome to me at the same time.
