We have removed the break out of frames code at this time. However, we can't guarantee whether or not it will come back. Is this in reply to my post? In which case could you explain please as I'm not technically inclined enough to understand what that means. Have to say I'm a little perturbed that you have clearly made a number of changes to the internal mechanism of your site which have caused untold problems to people. I would have thought you should regress these changes while you sort the problems out. Yes, it was in reply to your post. With all due respect, the code that for some reason was causing the issues of people's pages reloading was the same exact code that has been in place for over 5 years now. It seems something has changed with Internet Explorer 8 that does not like that piece of code. The solution to get people back to their forum is to remove that code for now. Instead of putting your forum in an iframe, simply link to it like this in your HTML code: <a href="URL TO YOUR FORUM" target="_top">Visit our forum</a> and it will break the frames out from your end.

Hi, I hope it's OK to ask this here, but in response to the post from Patrick above, I'm a little confused. I did not have the refreshing problem, but one of my members did (she posted in this thread).
You mention that the problem was with the "break out of frames" code. I don't have that code on my board, but you're also mentioning an iframe code. I have a shoutbox on my board which uses an iframe code. Could this be causing the problem, and does this mean I should remove it? Or is there another alternative?

It's a code in the ProBoards software Angelique, it has nothing to do with any custom codes you added

I am a bit confused also. Could you put the solution in the OP so we don't have to scroll through all the posts to figure out what is going on. If you already put it there, I didn't see it. From what I gather from the above - we should put a link to a new log in page in our html of our main page? Is that correct? Or do we just need to do a link one time and it fixes it for everyone? ------------------ 1) Please fully describe exactly what the problem you are experiencing is. - I bring up the log in page by going to either www.ttrefuge.com or ttrefuge.proboards.com and I type in my name and password. Then I click log in. The log in page loads again, sans name/password entered. I can't log in. 2) What browser are you using? IE 7.0.6001.1800 4) Do you use any anti-virus software? If so what type including version number? None - brand new computer, not activated yet 5) Are you attempting to access the forum via a bookmark? No If so:

1) Please fully describe exactly what the problem you are experiencing is. When i go to log on i enter my username/password and it just reloads the page again without logging me on yet if i access it through my favorite its logs me in like normal? 2) What browser are you using? IE 7 3) What version number is it? 7.0.5730.11 4) Do you use any anti-virus software? If so what type including version number? AVG (free) 8.5 5) Are you attempting to access the forum via a bookmark? If so: It works through bookmark/favorites 5.1) Go into your Manage Bookmarks section of your browser and copy the exact URL that is bookmarked and paste it as your reply for 5.1. bluedivision1.proboards.com/index.cgi?5.2) After you open this bookmark in your browser, what does the URL say at the top of your browser when it is looping (copy and paste it exactly please)? bluedivision1.proboards.com/index.cgi? not looping. 5.3) Try deleting the bookmark and typing in the URL to the forum manually. Are you able to access the forum this way? I've re-embedded to the website, but does not fix problem and I have no problem with bookmark.

I also had a problem with my forum , and after all the reading here and FAQ's I have come to the conclusion that if you have a website like me, and you host it somewhere for free, like me, and would like to have the domain name in the address bar, like me, you are using a so called " Masked forwarding (framed)", like me, and in that case, before if you had a link to your proboards forum, it broke the link and just had proboards in the address bar. BUT now there is something changed, (don't ask me what) and your domain name stays in the address bar when you are visiting your proboards forum, and then if you try to login...you get thr feared refresh and can not login... So what you need to do is go to your domain name supplier and unclick the framed mode and go back to the "unframed" mode , wich displace the domain name to the host address realy. I'm not happy with this and does not look profesional but what can we do about it. So its got nothing to do with proboards but with IE Explorer I think. Anyway I just wanted to explain this for my self realy so I can read about it again and again. Cheers. Alex vwsplitty.proboards.com/index.cgiwww.hdvwclub.co.uk

I no longer have the log in problem, and here is what I did to fix it. I use a URL and frame it to the actual pro boards site. I changed my forwarding address to newgraceboards.proboards.com with no number in the URL. I remembered a note a while back about Pro Boards going to a numberless URL system and so I changed my redirects and frames so they no longer use the numbered URLs and Wah lah, everyone on my forum can now log in just fine. I have no idea if that is THE problem that many here are having, but it was the fix that worked for me. Mark
