[Debate] 'No Right Click' Codes

i like them cuase i run a graphics desgin board and i dont want people to steal any of my images unless i put the url down there to use it cuase when i had a conforums *now stink go proboards* they didnt have that code so people were stilling my things left and right who ever made this is a genus cuase i get mad when people steal things of mine !!!

You do realize that it's still possible to get your images, even with the code? If you had real hosting for your images, you'd be able to enable hotlink protection, and have no need for a 'no right click code', which is not effective anyways.

I think having 'No Right Click' codes is good for the reasons that a lot of people have already said. If something is easy to do then a lot of people will do it, but the harder things get the less people will try it. So another barrier to prevent people 'stealing' codes must be a good thing.

But I can right click and get the 'view source' option up and I can also right click on the images to copy them (Not that I would.) Thats without doing anything fancy. I shouldn't be able to do that...

No Right cllick is good so people don't go ripping of articles or something. But I don't really mind about the pictures.

I hate No Right Click codes. Back when I had IE and a slow Internet connection, there were a few times when the images randomly decided not to show up, so I had to right-click and click "Show Image" to make them appear. Boards with "No Right Click" codes made this so annoying that I just left the board.

I'm almost more inclined to steal from people who have no right click codes, because of their pathetic attempt to stop me.

i really dont like them. i have been to sites that use them, trying to save a picture in their gallery, and it didnt allow me to.

I think no right click codes are unneeded because if someone wants to see the code. They save the page to the hard disc and then use notepad to read it.

I don't like them. It's a waist of code in my opinion. It rarely stops anyone, and it just more of a nuisance to regular posters. I don't think they should be implemented into a board because it's just a hassle, and doesn't work well anyway.

I think, you should only use them in one spefic board that's a graphic 'shop.' Not everywhere...I have a shop for my forum, and we use no right click in only the shop area. Not anywhere else!

they don't work and neither do the ones that supposedly 'hide the source'

the only way you can protect your work from being ripped is if..

1. keep the .psds (with the layers) of all of your images, and put a watermark on your [finished] image.. one that cannot easily be detected.. that way when the ripper steals your image, and you catch them doing it, then you can take it up with an authoritative figure.. you can tell them where they can find your watermark, as well as show them the .psd of the image that was stolen from you.. that way they have proof that it is yours.

2. don't upload it to the net. because as soon as someone looks at your page, they have your images and stuff on their computer.. the only thing you can do is trust them enough not to be a low-life and steal your work. and put a clear copyright on your work.. whether it is your real screenname, or the url to your website.. that is what i do..

I like No Right Click codes because it gives me peace of mind.
Of course on the other hand there are ways around them & people will swear they're absolutely useless.
I hate when people take images, especially when you host your own, but if you can take something from the net why can't people take from you? It's kinda like ownership.
