People cannot get codes off a forum with that code in. If you mean steal codes out of the source, yes they can, quite easily. Please be sure to read the rules of this board before posting. Thanks.

everyone who has their own forum worked their butts off to make their forum. I mean who likes ppl to rip off thier ideas and plant it on thier forum? I agree with half of these folks here... it's annoying. I would love to have a NO right Click on my forum so no one can steal from my board. That would be awesome...

There are just certain things to say. Some things that aren't yours, you can't really put a no right click, and not everyone has things they made for their forum, they just get pictures from google and say it is theirs, put a No Right Click on it, and go and report forums on people who that that picture remotely anywhere in their forum. It is pretty stupid, so I don't suggest that everyone needs to use these codes, then, they could just highlight the picture, place it in paint or something like that, and save it, which really takes out the use of this code, so I think that would just a be a waste of loading time.

say NO to 'No Right Click' !
well its true, its not wroth it, even with JS codes copyrights are all nice but that doesn't mean someone out there hasn't removed or modified the copyright. New methods need to be employed into how codes and images can be copyrighted and hidden. but for now, nothing can be done that can stop people from "ripping" unless caught in the act, so why keep that code at all ? all it does is make people frustrated when they can't copy text or paste text, or even open links in new windows.
more useful not using a code like that, than having one.

So what do you think about no right click codes - a good thing to help against theft, or a total annoying, and useless function? Debate. I have rarely seen websites like this, but there was one I saw a picture on which I really liked. When I tried to copy and paste it into Microsoft Word it wouldn't let me because the picture was 'copyrighted.' It suddenly occured to me that all the images on the BBC website are copyrighted and they don't have these right click blockers - so why should anyone else use them?

I think no right click codes are a waste of time. They're way too easy to get past and may sway members away from using a forum that's so tight about their stuff. I, personally, wouldn't want to be part of a forum that had that code because it just annoys me. People can steal your images, urls, and other content regardless of the code, and it might just provoke them into being more prompted to take it. 'Tis my opinion. Use your time to insert more useful codes into your forum.

Plain and simple its annoying, id rather have people steal images from me than to have a lack of members due to an annoying code.

Use your time to insert more useful codes into your forum. I made that very mistake in the past, protecting everything I had, whilst some of it actually came from other sources (of course I credited them). Now I have a hard time getting members because I lost their interest & trust. While some of it is down to your own hard work, (which you obviously don't want someone else taking all your glory), at the same time, don't do what I did & get 'power hungry.'

Plain and simple its annoying, id rather have people steal images from me than to have a lack of members due to an annoying code. People could still steal the images by clicking the image and dragging it to the address bar. Anyways, I disable the code if I need to check the source or copy a link location or something. It is very annoying though. -.- It drives me crazy having to disable it every time I wanna get a link off of a website. To disable it though you just have to enter javascript:void(document.oncontextmenu=null) to your address bar and press enter to enable right click again.

My take on right click codes:
They can be a real convenience, so long as you do not make them more than that.
ANYTHING (PERIOD!) done client-side can be bypassed in some way. If you're relying on it for security, forget it.
Policy reasons might work, as long as you enforce your rules when people bypass it.
Convenience stuff is a-ok.

The only people the right click code will work for are those with little knowledge of caching.
internet explorer caches most images on a site into the Temporary Internet files folder, so all you have to do is look in there for any image that has been displayed.
take a screen shot using either the Print Screen key or any image editor with screen capture capabilaties.
If the image is not a link then you can left click the image and drag it to your desktop.
It's also possible to keep the right mouse button held down, press the escape key to get rid of the pop up message, then just select the save option from the menu that pops up.
