I placed another call with Sky this evening. Just after my last post. This time I spoke to someone who was more willing to try something other than get me off the phone and she had me read out a few settings from my router page, change a few things and try again, all to no avail.
I was then met with a similar 'not a lot we can do our end' kind of response.
You can't blame them, tbh. They mostly read from a script anyway.
It's poor CS but what can you do eh?

The connection has timed out The server at eeriehowls.proboards.com is taking too long to respond. * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web. ^ That is what keeps on coming up when ever I try to access my boards. Sky is really being a pain in the arse now, and I'm getting pissed off with them. I don't want to call them up, because I will not know what to say and will proberbly lose my temper.

:)Hi from the sunny New Forest(Southern England) I've had problems loading any Proboards sites since yesterday, including my own(Sky Broadband user), Just phoned Sky they didn't know there was a problem,he kept me on hold for a couple of mins then said his supervisor will ring me back tomorrow and mentioned i.ll probably have to do some tech stuff with my PC? If its because of complaints about virus's maybe its the crap MacFee they give when joining Sky broadband, funny enough its what BT have also

Hello louise, i see we are both back here again! Hi, I know. It is kind of annoying because I can not do anything, and I feel sorry for the admin that are trying their best to find out the problems and sort it out. But it is like I said annoying to be with Sky atm!

Use hotspotshield.com/ instead. Much more reliable. It slows down certain browsers but I'm using FF with FasterFox installed and I see no speed difference AND it doesn't block any forum functionality like Hidemyass does.

Hmmm I think I will do that too, but will it give access to all areas of the boards, including administration areas?

Hmmm I think I will do that too, but will it give access to all areas of the boards, including administration areas? It does but certain codes fail to register with hidemyass. For instance on my forum the tags won't work when posting for things like bold, italics, spoilers. Many images don't load up. Same applies to YouTube hyperlinks and any mods I've installed such as Crossfury, Multicoloured names and the CBox can't be posted in. I switched to hotspotshield.com/ after a user mentioned it in this thread. Works in the background of your PC and gives full access to all functionality of my forum. Should be ok for all. Use hotspotshield.com/ instead. Much more reliable. It slows down certain browsers but I'm using FF with FasterFox installed and I see no speed difference AND it doesn't block any forum functionality like Hidemyass does. can u get in chat with it? I have chat disabled in favour of a Cbox so I can't comment. Give it a go. It's a very small download and you can easily delete it afterwards.

All it does is opens a window and connects your IP and then masks it. After that u can close the window and at the bottom of your taskbar there will be a Shield Icon that will be lit green, to say it's working. Right click to turn it off when browsing normally and turn it on again when browsing your PB forum. You get an ad at the top of each page you open while using the shield but I blocked that with FF adblocker. Aside from that everything works like it should without a proxy/shield. So I'm pleased with that for now as I won't need to switch forum providers should this situation go long term and my users are happily utilising the program too. haven't noticed any functions that I cannot operate using hotspot shield, although I think it might be a bit slower for obvious reasons, but not slower than hidemyass of anonymouse, I have ad block on as well so not getting any adverts either. Thanks to pugsley for the original pointer to Hotspot. (Just so you know I wasn't making it up )

Erm I think I may have missed something woth that, because it has all installed and everyting, I just can not access my forums with it. It comes up with an Ask Jeeves page www.search-results.com/web?q=www.eeriehowls.proboards.com&o=15896&search=&l=dis I don't know what that means. But I'll be back soon, I have to go and do something. I hope this does not throw my members off of my forums, because I will not be atall pleased!
