GT Mafia: Round 2 ((Post-Game))

The morning was barely over before the villagers had reached their decision. Impassioned pleas rallied them around the cause as they desperately hoped once more to have found their first Mafia member.

They reached a majority quickly, at least half the village participating as they found and dragged Ricky to the centre of the town square, finally making use of those convenient poles and bundles of dry twigs. They lit him up to great applause, feasting, and a brief fiddle solo by a particularly musically talented villager with a singing accompaniment by a not-so-talented villager.

After the celebrations and flames had died down, there was a pandemonium to break into Ricky's straw hut and knock down the door. Dust flew, villagers scrabbled, and at last, someone uncovered a suspicious black outfit in a box labelled "top secret".

That's right! Ricky was a member of the Mafia.

Still happy from their feast, music, and successful lynching, the villagers went to bed, content in the knowledge that at least some justice had been doled out to those evildoers who had killed three of them already.

Thus begins night four.

Uh ok I read this part really fast and for some reason came to the conclusion that the village is full of cannibals

*Dom felt a sense of relief when the village finally uncovered that box that had proven Ricky to be a Mafia member. Now the Mafia were short a member, but the bold claim that Ryan had made still lingered in his mind. Dom feared for the morning, knowing the Mafia will try and strike again. Dom tried to sleep, but kept hearing the screams of the dead villagers in his head. Or was it outside?*

Okay, shouldn't be a problem for now. We won't need every single villager voting for a couple more rounds yet. There'll be fourteen or fifteen players after tonight, so eight votes will swing it.

The night fell uneasily for the villagers who had so recently celebrated the death of the first Mafia member. Everyone crossed their fingers that they wouldn't be the next killed as revenge for the death of Ricky, the evil Mafia scum who had helped kill several villagers.

As night fell, one villager found themselves desperate to get out of the house, if only for a bit. After all, the villagers had all been cooped up in little huts for far too long instead of freely visiting each other, partying, and all the usual nighttime revels that went on in a little town.

The villager brought a knife as protection, then went for a short walk around the town square. As they entered the shadow of one hut that was cast by the eerie full moon, they heard sounds, and before they could do anything, they were tackled.

"Goodbye, my fellow villager..." said one black-clad figure as they raised an assortment of farm tools high and plunged the tools down into the victim's body.

The rest of the village heard a blood-curdling scream. Once more, most of those who heard were too grateful that they hadn't been targeted and too scared that the Mafia might still be lingering... but there was still one brave -- or foolish -- enough to creep out of the hut and help the villager who had been so gravely injured.

When morning broke, the villagers who made their ways out of their huts found blood stains on the earth in the town square, along with a few discarded bandages. It didn't take long for them to realize that the villager who had been targeted by the Mafia was saved last night by the doctor, a truly noble villager who would, of course, want to remain anonymous with such evil afoot.

Whoever was targeted and then saved didn't matter. The villagers thanked the gods for their good fortune, the doctor for his or her quick thinking and bravery, and the villager themselves for pulling through such an ordeal. They might yet have a chance!

Thus begins day four.

Speaking of which, I'm moving tomorrow, and I don't know how much I'll be online until Tuesday. (Ah, who am I kidding, I'll be hunkered in the hotel room over my laptop in the wee hours of the morning as usual.)
