you /should/ have enough RAM, as has been stated, though it's admittedly on the low end. even if you don't have any other programs running, there could be a few processes stuffing things up as well (for example, people who have used google chat before get this plugin thing that constantly runs regardless of whether or not you're actively chatting). try and shut down a few unnecessary processes, as well, to try and clear up more RAM.
you've never said, actually - how long are you waiting between the first time it says 'not responding' before terminating the process? or do you terminate immediately?
