Sorry if this has been answered already but will the modifications I make to the betazone stick when the conversion happens in the future or will I have to redo all the changes I am making right now to the v5 boards? I ask because I really don't want to be taking a lot of time to modify the new stuff if the changes will all be reset when the conversion takes place. Any changes to the design of the v5 beta board will not automatically be made to your current forum when it goes V5, but you will be able to export most of it, including themes, templates and plugins

i don't know if this has been asked before or not (if it has, i apologize) but i have coding much of my site's current coding on my own and a bit of it has codes that most likely will not work once v5 comes out... but i was wondering if we could keep our forums as v4 if we wanted? (i just find v4 so much simpler, sorry if that makes me seem negative but i like v4 better -- no offense.)
thank youuu.

atozchat.boards.net/Hi I hope I'm in the right place... I want to use my existing Header Banner for my Test Board, and subsequently when we change to V5. I actually use Bannermaker who offer a varied range of codes There is a code is at the top of the New Homepage, how do I convert this to show the Banner Picture. Many thanks Criss....

Your current banner url simply goes into the banner area of the board in V5 Have you got a beta board ? If so, and if you have problems, create a new thread in v5 discussion for assistance

I know that, I mean... When the beta testing is over, will site owners that tested get THIER sites switched to V5, or will we have to move everything over manually? Start from scratch? I was told that eventually it will be an option open to the general public, to switch over, but will the beta testers be first in line for that? "Transition Period" is the next stage. I would guess it will start between 1 and 6 months from now. But no official date has been confirmed. After transition period begins, ANYONE with a Proboards V4 forum can CONVERT their forum to V5 permanently. Beta-zone forums will continue to work during transition period. After the transition period ends, witch will last about 3 months, all beta-zone forums will be deleted and all existing forums who did not upgrade during the transition period will then be forced to do so. I hope that answers your question. I don't know if this has already been asked...tried reading 6 pages and might have missed it. When V5 is ready you say, boards that didn't convert will be forced over!?!? Did I read that correctly? If so, what about those boards - mine included that have custom headers and footers - what happens there? ALso, if this is the case, can a simple, easy to understand message be posted and/or emailed to board owners to tell them: What they should do - ie: what to back up and how to backup their current V4 board Who to contact if something goes wrong during conversion A firm timescale when the conversion will occur so board owners can inform their members. Of course, this may already be in place to do that, and if it is I apologise for stating the obvious, but I don't see that information anywhere. Many thanks Hammy mx5driver.com

h4mmy,
We save a copy of your Headers & Footers and put it in the admin area for you. If you go to Admin > Headers & Footers, you'll notice there's a history icon listed next to each of your boards. If you click that icon, it will bring up your headers and footers for you.
We will definitely announce time-frames once they are solidly in place. We will be keeping a copy of the original forum data, so even if a conversion had a problem, we can easily re-convert. However, it is unlikely that a forum will have such a problem, as we have already converted thousands of forums during BetaZone to test and find any bugs in the system.

That's great and thankyou for taking the time to explain Patrick - much appreciated Sir. We have a 'test' site which is a facsimile of the main site - this is used to test things on before the live site. Could I, without sounding all Hollywood - ' join the program' with the test site - just so I know what to expect and what may change - layouts etc. I've just spent a couple of weeks putting our main site together and I'd hate to bu99er it up if you see what I mean BTW - it's prudent to say here, that proboards support is second to none - the help I ahve had has been almost like your sitting on my shoulder. Thanks, Hammy

Not being particularly computer literate, dare I ask, what will happen if I do nothing; will I be able to simply transfer to v5 when it's all finalised? I've looked around my forum in Betazone and it all looks fine, except I don't really understand very much about the admin area and how to do anything really... yet! When V5 is launched, all forums will automatically be upgraded, if you have a Betazone copy of your existing board, that is what it will look like at launch Best thing to do is to take the time to play with things, if you get stuck, this is the place to ask, members and staff will be happy to help with particular issues. Thanks for your help, Patrick [ASE] and for the other helpful information on this thread. I'm starting to get used to my Betazone copy now and I'm quite enjoying it. Another question, though... when creating a post, is it possible to preview before saving the post and how do you do it? Apologies if I sound dumb. Edit: Oh, and I've just noticed I can't work out how to, "bump" a post. I've gone into, Actions, Moderate, Bump, but it doesn't seem to work. I've also tried ticking the box (sorry, I'm UK... checking the box) and going through the same process, but still the threads stay put. Watch this space, I'm sure I'll have more dumb questions.

It looks better, but may end up more like twitter/facebook with all the "new" features that the other site already have.

The "Visual" option is a preview of what your post will look like. If you are in BBCode mode, just click Visual at the bottom left. If you are already in Visual mode, then what you see is what your post will look like.
