Lol, you want my recipe? Take V4 forum, copy source into text document, replace old stuff with new stuff.

And somewhere along the way is me working the home page's {if} statements for everything, adding in $[current_user] stuff and all those other variables, and making the old CSS classes utilize the @variables from the Easy Theme Creator and the Visual Editor.

I was gonna remake the whole thing to just look like V4, but not use V4's HTML, but I wanted to see if I could make the old codes work if I just made it generate the same HTML. Some do, several don't.

lol, I actually thought about doing it that way, by re-creating the exact HTML from v4 so some v4 codes could work, but decided that I would do it properly by starting from the v5 templates so that everything would remain the same (classes, ids etc), so that codes would work fine.

Someone should do a V4 template that would make some V4 codes work...then people who are unprepared can at least try with that before making our own skins

Does anyone know if PBS will be adding a skin database? If not...some of you better coders/designers should get together and start a design forum...

Does anyone know if PBS will be adding a skin database? If not...some of you better coders/designers should get together and start a design forum...

We will be adding a theme database, and plugin database, on our homepage. It will make it one-click to install themes and plugins.

I'd definitely recommend changing the current item in the menu, though. The purple is much too dark and the overline doesn't work as it is.

It's one of many things I never got round actually finishing. Need to get on the desktop so I have Photoshop - on my laptop I don't have (and can't natively run) it, so I'm kinda stuck.

Also wanting to add the Posts/Threads/Last Post text to the cat bars (which I'd like to make a little smaller, too), and figure out how to individually colour the Logout and Login|Register text. Then just loads of little colour updates. Oh, and a banner. And converting the image background to a css one. And probably some other stuff. =P

Can you just transfer over the layout that is currently used? Or do forums have to start all over and figure it all out again. Alot of effort went into the forum banner, design and layout and it seems like Pro Boards should offer a transfer of all current code and layout. Can you do that Pro Boards? Starting all over really would be a total hassle. Having to figure out how to add the current codes used and putting them in the new system well, that would stink. There must be a solution to this.

Our support team will be happy to assist you with getting your forum looking how you want. Just create a topic in the support board letting us know what you need.

Codes from v4 are not directly compatible with v5. The coding is different, and the old codes relied on the old layouts. Since we have new layouts, many codes will need to be updated -- in fact, many of them already have been. There is a Plugin Database in the plugins section that has many plugins that you can install.

It's actually much easier in v5 to customize your forum than v4, and plugins make it even easier.

The point is the way it is now is how we want to keep it, layout and banner most important. Why do we have to figure it all out again, basically redesign it when so much work went into it, pretty recent too. Can't proboards offer to login and set it up the exact way?

As I said - post on the Support Board and ask for help. Tell us what you want and we will help you. We can't custom make all the coding for your site (we're a free service mind you, and that would mean we'd have to hire a hundred developers to translate every single forum one by one!). But we have a very capable support team that is here to assist you with the transition.

Just inform them what you need help with and they will do their best to get you sorted.

Yes you do have to figure it out again, it's a new system of course it's different. Just like Windows XP to Windows 7, it's different and you had to relearn it, same with Windows 7 to Windows 8, you have to figure it all out again. It's a part of life, things change and you have to relearn.

But in all honesty it isn't that hard to find out and as VS Admin has stated there are many people here willing to help.

Not to sound harsh or anything...but think about what you are asking...ProBoards hosts MILLIONS of forums for absolutely free and you're asking them to log into each one and set up the coding for them exactly the same as it was before V5? I doubt that would be humanly possible even if they wanted to...
