Is there an 'idiot guide' available to all the settings that you need to check? I only recently upgraded and what I have found so far is:
1. the forum only uses half my PC screen - question raised 2. I lost my forum logo - I fixed that myself 3. I've lost all my custom smileys - Do I need to manually reload them for each theme?
Isn't there a generic guide of all the things that we lose when upgrading?

Any previous posts that included custom smilies only now show the shortcuts. I didn't keep a list of what short cuts were for which smilies

No guide yet, however to change the width of the forum, go here: Admin >> Themes >> Colors and Theme Creator >> Style Options, and there your able to adjust the width of it. As the similes, you will need to re-input these.

I've changed the width to 1500 (don't know why the default is so narrow)
What I mead is for example if I had a custom smilie for which the shortcut was :F, I now only see :F in previous posts. I don't now know which smilie that was

You can also click the pencil, and make your own emotion lie :F, and the simile that's attached to that will show every time that shows in a post.

For the width you can use a percentage like 90%. This way it adjusts based on the screen size that each person is using. This is very handy if you have members with very different screen sizes viewing your forum.
Plus, there are some steps posted here (I can't remember the links right now) that take through the steps of basically doing the same thing for your banner so it automatically adjusts based on the size of the screen you are viewing the forum.

What I'm saying is that if I now look at a post that was made before the upgrade, I see :F, not the smilie that was associated with :F as I would have before. I now don't know which smilie that was

I now don't know which smilie that was Theres not much we can do.. :F is not an actual smilie defaulted with ProBoards. Thus, the original smilie did not transfer in the upgrade, that's why you see it. Once you re-upload it, and re-name the smilie to :F, all the :F's will show again as the correct smilie.

yes i appreciate that. what I'm saying is that if i had known this prior to upgrading i could have listed all my smilies before upgrading. there should be a guide showing what you will lose when you upgrade and will need to rebuild. I was expecting this to be pretty seamless

I didn't see a list.
can I add them globally or do I need to choose/set a skin first and then add them to that?

I didn't see a list. can I add them globally or do I need to choose/set a skin first and then add them to that? You need to set a skin first, which is now called a theme. Themes, and all the images set inside one only shows when that theme is set to show. On your theme right now, which should be your default, you can add these there, unless you plan on making a new theme, then you can create a new one, and add the smilies there, instead of the default which is showing right now to everyone.
