No, I haven't yet, Todge. When aRMY was at my place the other day he also said he couldn't see it and I think he uses FF. Today, it seems to be working fine. Yesterday, it wasn't, and many other times. Maybe it's one of those weird flukes, like a combination of browser, internet provider, and so forth. Let's just let it ride for the time being, Todge. The next time it happens, I'll get a screen shot and come back to show you how it behaves.
Thanks for the response. I'll give you an update in a few days.

To confirm for JJ, I use FF+ and IE9 (Windows7) and both browsers have no problems.

hootyowl.proboards.com/Todge I'm back a lot quicker than I thought I would be because I am so forgetful. I forgot to add something to my original post, and now I remember because it just happened to me. I have no idea if the JJ Smilie Dropdown has anything to do with this situation but thought I'd start here before I took it straight to Support. It actually could be the plugin to put the UBBC buttons in Quick Reply. So this is a process of elimination. If I am in Quick Reply, and type a sentence or so and then try to use one of the 'default' smilies, (which I have changed to my own smilies.) the smilie will wipe out what I have typed and the only thing in the post will be the smilie. This just started a few weeks ago. I have a gazillion little smilies in your drop down and use them mostly in Quick Reply, but now and then, I do use one of the other ones. My suspicion is that it is the UBBC plugin, but like I said, I wanted to see if there was any possible connection? JJ

Todge, I'm back, and I swear I am not trying to drive you crazy. Do you still have your slinky? Yesterday, it was fine all day, now, the Dropdown is missing again. I think I must have something going on in general, Todge, I have some other nuisance things going on. Nothing that affects posting or very dramatic, just picky stuff. I haven't kept a test board up to speed with my real site, so I cannot use my test site to experiment. My fault. I won't let that happen again after I get this fixed. Edited to Add: Aha! I have made a discovery. Don't know what it means, maybe you can tell me. The Dropdown is showing in some threads, not others. Is this something I did and don't know how I did it?

This plugin shouldn't effect, or be effected by, the standard PB smileys, whether you've changed them or not, so it's highly unlikely that this plugin is the cause of that problem.
Could you do me a favour.. When the smiley plugin fails, could you grab a copy of the source code and PM it to me. I may be able to search through that for possible problems.

Sure, I can do that, the whole thing? Or just a part of it. Also, what about it being continuous in one thread, but not in others. To my knowledge, it is only on one thread right now, but I haven't been everywhere on the board. Let me think a minute... ok Todge , I have opened up the thread where it is missing for you can see what is happening in real time. I just went and checked a number of threads in that board, Hootyowl Gazette, and they all had your dropdown. This is the thread where we are discussing the magically missing Dropdown. hootyowl.proboards.com/thread/15267/little-smilies-quick-replyI don't know if you will be able to tell anything or not. There is a thread that is always opened to guests at the top of the board, and I just checked that and the Dropdown shows like it should. I am at a total loss. I know how I can get rid of this problem, delete the blasted thread, but it will just show up somewhere else.

Todge, I have a problem, and so does a friend and she is using the other dropdown you made. My smilies are getting an extra character, letter or number after them. I thought it was just me, but I was just over at a friend's and hers is doing the same thing. I don't think two sites would have an identical failing, especially when using different versions of your code, so this is really just a head's up for you.

That's very strange.
Is you friend seeing this issue, or is it just you seeing it on two forums? I ask because, depending on what version the other forum is running, the codes may be very different.

I don't think it's you at all, Todge, but since so many people use your plugin, you are liable to get calls for help. It was my site, another woman's site and a member of mine said she saw it on another site. Also, there are threads now going in support with a number of hits. I definitely think is it Proboards related. Here is my thread, but there is another one that has a lot of people chiming in. support.proboards.com/thread/486334/odd-smilie-behavior?page=1&scrollTo=5565286

I'm back, Todge, I saw where you were working with Baller on having the other plugin you made for smilies attach itself to the little smilie face in Eton's UBBC code. I would love to have that also for this smilie plugin if it's not too much trouble. Thank you. Edited to Add: Ok, now I am just asking, if it's not possible, I will go in my corner and sulk... ok, just kidding. Is it possible for this smilie option to also have an option to change colors to match the color of a theme? And how would that work? Just asking, no big deal.
