I have a upgrade question

not sure if it has been asked or not yet.But when the forum upgrades will we lose all the backgrounds and stuff we already have on our site...or is it just going to upgrade like any other site does,but with new features...I kinda hate when sites keep chaning.I like that this one stayed the sae for so long..so was just wondering.

Do I have to remake all my layouts and backgrounds and what not..or will they all stay the same when the upgrade hits?

If you look on what you will loose, with the big letters saying "IMPORTANT" the bullets tell you what you will loose, etc..

v5 has a different layout, however the main colors should convert over.

If you haven't done so yet, now would be a great time to create a betazone copy of your board. Then you will see just what your existing board will look like when it converts.

You can practice on the beta copy without affecting your existing board. Tweak your themes to get them looking like your existing board does, then export them. Once your existing board is upgraded, you can import those themes and have it quickly look like you're used to.

sounds like a lot of un needed work if ya ask me...reading all that stuff to see what I will have and what I will not have then going to the beta zone to test and what not...seems really stupid if ya ask me.

Hate to have to go and read everything and test everything to make sure it works and what not.I don't got that kind time since I more or elss run my site myself and I work so..yeah....

but anyways thanks..I guess I go read the crap.

and I meant like all my boards converting over the same as well as all my layouts I have a billion layouts on my site...that I have spent a lot of time getting on that site..so when it upgrades I have to do it all over.Is that what your saying?

v5 is a whole new thing, nothing same as v4. That is why you will loose the coding, and the themed coding. As far as the betazone, that is your choice. And you can opt out until the end of the year, to wait on v5, if you do not the time to test out v5.

Your boards will stay, the layouts will be lossed, due to different coding. If you create a betazone forum, you can see exactly why you need to change, and you have until the end of the year to make these changes, then transfer them to the real forum by simple downloads.

They will not convert exactly as they are, no. The basic colors will, but you'll have to add your logo back, and do some tweaking /add side tables plugins/whatever. If your layouts are fairly simple, however, it won't take long to do them.

well I have a lot am I the only one that would have access to the betazone or could my members help me...and if this is true then I need logner then the end of this month to do that..and no I did not see the opt out button on my admin thing on my page to do that either...so....

Be sure to opt out however, by going to the admin panel, clicking on the "Click here to get Started!" And at the bottom you will have an option to opt-out till you are ready.

And yes, you can have your members sign up, and help.  

It is a exact copy of v5, so member groups, admin powers, etc will all be there.

so if I go there and do that everything will me transfered over..blah..this is aggervating why can't I just keep my bored how it is..forever *rolls eyes8this is a lot of aggervating work.I spent years getting my site the way I want and now I have to do it again..blah.

Just lie every service, it has to upgrade to keep up. And PB can not run v4 and v5 servers. I know most forums are going through software changes. 

And, you can do everything in v5, you did with v4, just easier.
