its sketchy... on my test board I can get some tags to work great but not others. I have a tag in one board that work, but it doesnt recognize the tag in a different board... thats why I wanted to get input from Tim

I have no idea. Indexing of posts should be much faster than that as far as searching is concerned.

If my guess is correct and my memory is returning proper search results then it is the open-source Sphynx based search engine that was beta tested in 4.5.

If I get this code working, it looks like it might just be popular on the support board itself...

I have it converting to and from the "stand-in" text in the regular editor, and it converts to a clickable link to search query in the display post.. what confuses me is how a term will return no results when first displayed.. but without changes minutes later will now show results.

Keith Rozett or Martyn Dale  have any hints?

When Martyn reindexed all the posts here on Support, it seemed to fix our search woes. If he ran it on your board, that would probably fix things.

so at 3 minutes, the 2 posts (mine and Keith Rozett's) werent in results, but at 20 minutes they were. which leads me to believe there is some sort of waiting period for the index to occur. but now I have to wonder why it would find a word in one board, but not another?

Yes, there is a waiting period for new posts to become visible in searches. It's not a fixed time period, it's actually random.

As far as text being visible on some boards but not others... I agree that it's strange. Can you give me some specific examples? I may be able to re-index certain posts, so I'll try to get them to show up for you. Only Martyn can do the shotgun sphinx fixes though.

ok. so there is a query for one of the hashtag tests:

that should show results for 2 posts in different boards:
wormotest-v5.proboards.com/post/338
and
wormotest-v5.proboards.com/post/344


in fact, if you click it from post 344 - it only finds the one in post 338...
