Sorry to bug you, Wormopolis, with another little 'bug' but when a game I was playing was finished, it never did show the increase in 'wins' and 'losses.' Did we forget a step on our part that would have triggered that?

I need to see the game itself to know if the notifications went out. its also important to know that the loser has to accept the loss, before the winner can accept the win.

v2.4.1 submitted sped up the loading time after endgame by inserting a checkmate bypass variable so it doesnt have to calculate the checkmate anymore, it just knows it already happened. this wont be retroactive however.

That leads me into the other request and that is that some would like to use the game as a teaching or learning tool and they wanted to know if it could be possible to let people take a move back? Now again, I would want that to be game specific, not just optional. I'm not even sure if you can do that with the the access you have. I don't mind adding more super keys so for that isn't a problem, I just don't know what is doable and what isn't in this area or how you apply certain things to only some games. Is there any way to have these game specific items, be in the pop up, for when you select the opponent? Obviously, members would need to agree to these conditions ahead of time. Well, I thought I would toss it out there and gt your thoughts on it. Thanks again for all the work you do on this and in other areas here at pb.

Thanks again for all the work you do on this and in other areas here at pb. there was another request for a timer, but considering this isnt a real-life face-to-face game, it would be difficult to really implement something accurate. even the timestamp thing I current have in the notifications isnt completely accurate, because it is based on server time and therefore there is a small discrepancy between submissions. now take into account differing timezones and I becomes something that is likely going to require more lines of code that wont fit into the current plugin or an entirely new plugin itself. And because I just KNOW they are going to want it to automatically inform them its their turn as soon as the clock button is pressed, which is NOT possible because it would still require a page refresh. and a page refresh already will show notifications that are new. and doing multiple refreshes in a short amount of time will earn that player an auto-ban for flooding the PB server with requests. now if you are looking for something to just record the start time of the game to the end time of the game, that would be possible because I can just store timestamps in the thread key that it can use to calculate how long a game took. my concern with a take-back function would be the ease of which it would be abused. someone makes a move, then realizes they made a mistake, then takes it back before the opponent notices and makes different move. That is really what the whole FEN editor things was for in the first place. you can get the EPD strings from a game, post them between [chesstag][/chesstag] tags and it would make a non-playable board showing those pieces. you could even go into the editor and paste the EPD string and it would put pieces on the board so you can move pieces around, get a new string, and even paste into the same tags so it has a prev/next buttons below it. Im also going to back off on new features for chess while I try to get some other requests filled out and so I can finally get back to work on fight club. Im just focusing on trying to fix bugs in previous plugins and small requests currently.

Don't worry about any of it then as a time for how long a game took to me is not even worth worrying about and the take backs, I agree on the possibility for abuse which is why I asked about it being game specific, not all games would have it. That time thing would have been for two people on site right now that wanted to play a tournament game. I totally understand about the quick replies setting off the ban! is it always this same player that happens with? you are getting notifications in other games right? or if you make a new account and setup a game against your alternate account, do you get the notifications then?

We've had several instances where members are starting games and the other player isn't getting notified. Proud started one with Annam she didn't get notified. Jumbo started one with Anna and again she didn't get notified. I asked her if she had the same problem at Gibby's and she said yes. So, it could be something with the plug in as far as starting games, but yes, I have this problem of collecting the win. However, he forfeited to Anna and she got the win. Mine was a checkmate again. I don't know. I don't play enough other people to say. I have two other games going but they haven't moved in days. Maybe they aren't getting notified. I just really don't know.
