I can't find a thread for this plug in and I have a question to the writer. It is brilliant BUT in the smilie/emoticon button is shows the default images and not the images I have uploaded. Can you look into this please? savinghope.proboards.com/thread/106/new-admin-zionharrisThanks in advance Kriss

Hi scifikriss, thanks for pointing out that the plugin doesn't include a direct link to the support thread located here. The problem you describe is addressed in that thread with a workaround that uses the Proboards shoutbox Tips- If you define custom smiley emoticons in your admin panel this plugin has no access to that data so if you wish those custom smileys to show up in the plugin then enable the shoutbox so the plugin can grab them from the shoutbox, you can hide the shoutbox, if that is what you wish, by editing the shoutbox template so it becomes hidden but remains enabled
see spoiler for an alternate explanationPerhaps this will be more understandable... If you have smilies other than the standard smilies defined in your admin panel then those smilies would not be available for the BBCode plugin to access on certain pages. In order to have those custom smilies appear when using quick reply you must enable the shoutbox. With the shoutbox enabled the BBCode plugin can grab the smilies from the shoutbox. If you do not want the shoutbox to display for your members and visitors then the image I posted shows how to edit the shoutbox layout to effectively hide it (but still have it remain enabled) This has nothing to do with any other plugin or even how you host your smilies. As long as you've told the admin panel which smilies you want to use it will send those smilies to the shoutbox but it will not send them to a plugin. The plugin therefore cheats by copying off the shoutbox's paper when the teacher is not looking...
I have put it in the correct thread but getting duplicates on the buttons... It was fine until I did an update... Kriss Make sure you have only one version of the plugin installed (answered in other thread)

I had just disabled my Shoutbox, and couldn't figure out what happened to my smiley array in the Quick Reply. When I found this thread, I had my answer. The workaround in the Shoutbox template did the trick. Good work, SkelEton Bones.

I am also trying to install Quick Reply BBCode Buttons plugin
I never tried to install any of these plugins before.
I tried, but I wasn't able to figure out how to use Quick Reply BBCode Buttons and there wasn't any tutorial or explanations of how to use the thing.
I just want to have a custom button in the edit window. seems like might be simple thing, but I wasn't able to figure out this Quick Reply BBCode Buttons
I tried uploading a pic for the custom button, but the image upload method was not clear how that was associated with the custom button that would appear in the reply window, nor how the button would be organized next to all the other buttons either. I wasn't able to get anything at all to show in the reply window after installing Quick Reply BBCode Buttons plugin
I think i need better instructions about how to make the custom button for the edit window or reply window
*edit* This plugin requires that the field "apply_custom_full_reply" be set before it can be enabled. I found this sentence. This may mean I didn't enable it first. I do not know what it means when it says that. I do not know what it wants 'set'.

I found this sentence. This may mean I didn't enable it first. I do not know what it means when it says that. I do not know what it wants 'set'. If you're unfamiliar with how to configure a plugin then give the Adjusting Plugin Settings topic a quick read first. The basic version of the plugin comes with two main tabs "Hire" and "Fire", the fire tab allows you to remove a button and the hire tab allows to to create a new button and give it a job. Keep in mind that the plugin does not give the buttons any skills, it is expected they come to the job interview with those skills already acquired, the plugin merely gives it a desk and a terminal where it can sit and put those skills to use. Generally when configuring any plugin, if there is a help image ( ) next to the field then you can find more info regarding that field by hovering your cursor over that image. Those help images provide a detailed breakdown of what sort of value is expected for the specific fields. The plugin does not store images for you but there are quite a few sites such as imgur.com or photobucket.com that will store uploaded images for you and make it public by giving you an URL to that uploaded image that you can share so others can see the image. It is this direct URL that is being requested in the image field when creating a button. The ordering of any created button is explained when you hover over the index field's help image, if no valid grouping number is entered then a new button group is created after all other buttons have been created. As the name implies, the plugin is geared toward adding buttons to the quick reply so by default any changes you make are applied only to the buttons created for the quick reply area, however if you scroll to the bottom of both the Fire and Hire tab you will see options that can be set to apply these changes to the tabs on the full reply pages as well. I'm not sure where you saw the "apply_custom_full_reply" variable name quoted but I would guess it was during a geeky conversation since that variable name is internal to the plugin and would not be visible to a normal user but rather represented as an element in the user interface as shown at the bottom of the tab in the image below. If still not clear then please elaborate further or describe exactly the function of the button you are trying to create.

After reading this post, I believe you might be after this plugin Summertime but I still cannot be sure since the word "character" can mean more than one thing. If you mean a character as in a novel or role playing context then I believe Jordan updated his plugin to work in V5. If you seek character as in moral quality then then that might be a bit harder but I am sure Pebble is up for the challenge

I don't think I'd know where to start with 'moral quality' according to the majority, but I suppose it depends on your view point!

Perhaps a plugin variable to define moral quality from the perspective of the plugin user might work, at the very least it would demonstrate the flexibility of plugin variables. Even though it is not a type natively supported by the UI, if set to "everything" you could certainly define your own moral filters and create your own variable type that way. Or better yet, since there is a general dislike for doing anything else beyond clicking (because it is so "hard"), you could provide your own moral definition presets ranging from toddler to Mohandas Gandhi and allow the user to select with a simple click whichever scruples they choose to follow that day.
