eventually i got this notification message in chrome again that asked me on another computer
and then clicking allow then, i got notifications on my desktop when i got tagged in shoutbox
so yes it is working haha i guess i just clicked not allow when it appeared before

just a quick question ... do these notifications popup even when the members not on the site ?

If you have it open in a new tab only. You can have the tab open and be viewing another tab and still have the notifications appear.

Is it possible for you to create a feature which will allow users to upload images directly in to shoutbox directly from the PC and picture hosting websites such as photobucket

Got a quick question for you. I see in the description that its for desktop. Do you know if this also works on mobile browsers if in desktop mode? I don't use mobile, so I can't test myself - hence why I'm asking.

Oh, the reason I'm asking is because my admin on one of my forums said she didn't see a notification when I tested earlier. However, tagging myself I do see it. I'll be linking this post ( support.proboards.com/post/6841155/thread ) to her so see can see if that's the problem.

Yep, it could be that she simply has asked the site to disallow notifications. What browser is she using?

Not sure what browser she's using, but we might have it solved. Here's her response in our shoutbox:

Oh yeah. Might be I saw it and ignored it since I didn't know what was going on. Oops

I missed her today, but we'll see if that's what it was when I can catch her online again. I'll let you know either way here. Thanks for the reply!


Oh, is there a way to use the browser's API to have it make a sound on notification?

Sure. We can tag people, and their @-membername shows up as a link in ShoutBox, but no notifications ever appear that they have been tagged. 

Our ShoutBox is members-only, so you might have to join to see what I mean. Not sure. Apologies, I thought I had the link in my first post. It's: www.thelasthearth.com

Thanks, voice. Just to be clear, we are talking about Desktop notifications here, rather than forum bubble notifications. An example of what they look like is in this post: support.proboards.com/post/6620586/thread and you can see more in the plugin pictures in the library.

If you're using Chrome this is how you turn those notifications on: support.google.com/chrome/answer/3220216

FireFox: support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/push-notifications-firefox (in the upgraded notifications section)
