what about tinypic.com? still working for me Tinypic is owned by photobucket. It may be OK for now, but it may not be viable as a long term solution.

my banner disappeared yesterday .... why can't we all subscribe $1 a month to proboards to use their new image uploader they might make if we ask nicely ?
i can afford $1 a month for the rest of my life, i guess most would, and it'll fix this ongoing problem which will only get worse i'm guessing.
good idea ?

Why do you keep trying to bribe ProBoards to make stuff haha. There's already an upload functionality for your themes, for free. Unless ProBoards is planning to branch into being an image host / content delivery network in *addition* to being a forum host (which I seriously doubt), then you won't be seeing a generic image uploader.

I just downloaded a file from PhotoBucket of images that I hadn't saved before on my computer. I was able to get 68 images out of the 74 images in that file. Only the animated ones didn't download and there's no way of copying Photobucket link to search google, you get that Error that everyone is talking about.

I thought when I first saw the ransom note that I would just go ahead and pay it. But when I saw the $399 price tag, I said a couple of expletives and deleted my account. What a bunch of jerks. I'd have been willing to pay anything less than a hundred.

I'd have been willing to pay anything less than a hundred. When I saw the accounts were tiered I was thinking it wasn't so bad, but then I saw it was only available with their 500 account or whatever and it was $400/yr. I haven't deleted my account since it's full of memories of my teen years but I'm lucky in that none of that content is displayed externally (or if it is, in long abandoned places).

I can't claim to be intimately familiar with PB's business plan and finances and neither can you, so while your idea may be convenient user-end it doesn't necessarily mean it's a good idea for PB as a company.

Ive already reiterated that theme images can be uploaded to PB directly, but I'll do it again for good measure Another host was posted by ♥ ℒʊ√ ♥ that would allow for hosting provided their terms are met, and flickr is still a viable option for hosting and embedding your own creations. And self hosting is incredibly reasonable now, I pay maybe $140 annually for everything ($10/mo host, $12/yr domain, taxes). I hardly think it's the end of the world. As Brian said this is likely a direct result of them not having enough $$ to keep up with demand -- support the free sites that remain through donation, following their terms of service, whitelisting their ads, etc, and let them generate revenue to keep running.

They look good, might try them. Anything better then paying hundreds to use something that been free for me past 7+ years Not sure what Photobucket are thinking with such huge cost so sudden with no warning. If views were issue I wouldn't minded even having small watermark saying they host it or all images linking back to them rather then this Søren , I've already started using them. I post daily here on the photo thread and today's image is my first hosted by Village.Photos.
They really are easy and since they encourage third party linking, I'm sticking with them. I'm glad they're upfront about that and I don't have to read through a long ToS to see if there is anything prohibiting same.
And since they can handle transparent backgrounds, as well, I'm happy.
But that said, I literally have hundreds upon hundreds of images on Photobucket for our forum. Quite a daunting task. Add v6 changes, and I'm feeling deflated, to say the least.

TinyPic is notorious for moving photos and/or deleting them. I use them, too, but I've had issues with them, as well.

Save the image to your computer and then host on another site, such as Village.Photos. Thank you for this. For some reason my photos are all still up on my forum, only our main admin's photos have disappeared. I just had a quick look at Village.Photos and it looks user-friendly. I'll open an account and see how it goes. For those who need to download tons of images stored in their Photobucket accounts, this site says that you can download an entire library at a time. They suggest clicking "Library", then selecting "Download Album" under "Action". I haven't tried it so I don't know if it works, but there it is anyway.
