They look good, might try them. Anything better then paying hundreds to use something that been free for me past 7+ years Not sure what Photobucket are thinking with such huge cost so sudden with no warning. If views were issue I wouldn't minded even having small watermark saying they host it or all images linking back to them rather then this Søren , I've already started using them. I post daily here on the photo thread and today's image is my first hosted by Village.Photos.
They really are easy and since they encourage third party linking, I'm sticking with them. I'm glad they're upfront about that and I don't have to read through a long ToS to see if there is anything prohibiting same.
And since they can handle transparent backgrounds, as well, I'm happy.
But that said, I literally have hundreds upon hundreds of images on Photobucket for our forum. Quite a daunting task. Add v6 changes, and I'm feeling deflated, to say the least. ♥ ℒʊ√ ♥, thanks for posting about village.photos. I've add them to our External Resources list of image hosting sites.

Thank goodness, I don't have to download anything from Photobucket, Maude Fealy. I have all of my images backed up on external hard drives and on an encrypted site. So nothing will be lost.
And yes, you should be able to download an entire album, as long as you still have access to your Photobucket account. Many affected don't. Photobucket has them locked out until they pay their outrageous fee.

You're welcome, Scott ,
I did a lot of researching and ToS reading on various hosting sites once I read about Photobucket. And this site is user friendly and very open about welcoming third party linking.

Thanx for the heads up on village.photos. Looks like I'll be signing up and using that service from here on out. Photobucket is the only service I used before. So far, I haven't had issues or lost access to my accounts. I will be going on there and downloading everything since I never did make backups. (never thought I'd have to) Thanx ♥ ℒʊ√ ♥

You're very welcome, Tanya .
The first BIG thing you'll notice with Village.Photos is the speed of loading. Lightning quick. It is a vast improvement over sluggish Photobucket. And honestly, I want a site that explicitly states third party linking is welcome and there's no fine print ToS about what can be linked and where it can be linked.
The speed alone is worth leaving Photobucket for. I also like the album setup and that you can set privacy settings for each.

Photobucket has them locked out until they pay their outrageous fee. That's what I've heard. TBH, I don't see much difference between what Photobucket seems to be doing and ransomware. I think that unless they do a 180 on this, they are signing their death warrant.

I went into my Photobucket account (I still have access... for the time being!) and tried downloading an album. I did get a message telling me that it had downloaded but I don't know where it saved. So scratch that idea. Maybe someone else can figure it out. I signed up to Village.Photos. It will take a while getting used to but I think that once I know my way around, I will like it

Most of mine are backed up *somewhere*. But, when I get home, I will actually get on my laptop for a change and download like crazy onto my external drive, just in case.
And I find it absolutely shameful that photobucket would hold photos for ransom.

I've been using Photobucket since the early 2000's. But everything comes to an end.

This is bad news for my forum.
But there is a hosting service where "Direct linking (hotlinking) is allowed, even encouraged, with no restrictions. Use Village.Photos to manage your eBay sales, to post your images on EZ Boards, vBulletin systems or other forums. Embed them or link them into your marketing email blasts, and more." Hi ♥ ℒʊ√ ♥ ...I signed up for village.photos yesterday, but I have now decided to try a different photo hosting site. I tried to delete my account, but haven't been able to find a button where you can click to delete. Would you happen to know how to delete an account from that website?

Violette , I searched their "help" section but didn't find anything.
But you can simply delete your albums through the "Manage Album" button.
And I'm glad I searched help. This feature is also important to me when I link my images to a third party.

Hi, Morgan . This change will affect any images hosted on Photobucket, regardless of the platform they've been posted on. As far as your layout is concerned it is possible to upload images directly to the forum in Themes > Theme Manager by going into the Images tab of your theme's settings.Imgur is a good host for image sharing, but they've amended their terms of service as well to forbid using them as a content delivery network. So while you can't use it to host images for your layout (which again, we cover through the Themes section) they should still be viable for posting links to images. There are two problems with the part I bolded: One, Images are set to only eight categories, Forum Logo Default Theme Avatar Thread Icons Forum Icons Group Rank and Stars Smiles Wysiwyg / BBCode Buttons Custom Theme Images Many of those are already a set number for a specific thing and the most you can do is change the existing image. Beyond that, you have the 'Custom Theme Images' which is essentially a bulk dumping ground for everything else, with no possibility to group or categorize anything in it. If people could create their own sections, for example "Monetary Shop Images", or "Awards System Images", to randomly pick two hugely popular plugins that often require hosting and hot-linking literally HUNDREDS of images; and not have them dumped in with other images and all of them arranged only by date added...You wouldn't have so many of your forums forced to find hosts just to hotlink to those images somewhere else. Second, we are capped at 500 images per theme, which I would guess includes all the images that come with a theme as a default, that can be changed to a different image, but are pretty much necessary for a forum to operate. I, and I believe many other site owners/operators, for the most part don't host a lot of site images offsite because we want to...but because there really isn't a very viable alternative.
