I was permitted to use the existing code, so the original code and keys are still present. I've just added a Modifiers tab to make it easier for some adjustments to be made. The operation of the plugin is still the same as it originally was, so you can just remove the old one, or deactivate it - your choice. You definitely want to, at least, disable the old one.

If you still have the old one, you can import your settings right into the new one - so the What's the Prize? tab should have your current settings. You would only need to go to the Modifiers tab to put settings in there - if you want. If left blank, they should take on the defaults listed for each.

We use it on one of my forums as well, so it only made sense to keep it alive - not to mention taking the requests and putting those options in the UI so people wouldn't need to play with the JS in the Build.

I'm hoping to have the leaderboard done by Halloween - but no promises. I'm still in my early stages of JS learning and have still yet to make / use a key myself (David did the keys for the current version).

And whether by Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas, the leaderboard will be a welcomed addition. I have every faith in you. But Halloween will be here before you know it, so wise not to make a firm promise for that date.

The fact that all of you plugin developers take the time to volunteer your skills to create for us is appreciated. Placing deadlines for an altruistic act would be very ungracious of us.

We'll be happy whenever the feature is added. Just the fact that it is being added is a bonus!

If you install the update, it will see that you've already got a version installed and will ask if you want to import the settings. If you answer Yes, all of your current settings will be imported into the new version:


(1) While logged onto your forum, go to Admin > Plugins > Plugin Library, go to the Scavenger Hunt plugin and click Install on Forum:

(2) It will detect that you have a version running. In the dropdown, select the Upgrade option and mark the version to upgrade (the image shows it as version 0.2.1 in my image, but it should show as version as 0.2.0 on your screen):

(4) Choose the version to import the settings from (again, yours should show it as v0.2.0). Click Import Settings:

All of your current settings will now be imported in Version 0.2.1 - meaning all of your image links and other settings will be there.


EDIT: I just saw your edit. It's up to you what you want to do, but there's the instructions if you want to upgrade. If not now, then I will be posting when I do get the leaderboard done if you want to wait to upgrade then.

All the Modifiers tab does is allow changes to those settings. The default settings that David had are listed, so you can leave them blank or just put in the default numbers - if those are what you're using. This was why I included what the the default values from David's code are.

Excellent! Had I have known that, I would have just upgraded before getting everything ready for tomorrow. But since I've got them ready on three different forms, I think I'll just leave it the same. But I really appreciate that explanation!

Lynx - hello! as you probably know I have a very modified theme / template on my site. I tried looking at the old thread but didn't see it -- was it ever made so you can place the bag / collected # of items anywhere? Ideally I'd like to put it in the signature area rather than the mini profile (as I have a very modified mini profile). Here is a link to my forum, if you need it: theavatarrp.com

The plugin itself works just fine -- candies appearing and everything -- there's just no record of it anywhere.

To answer your question - as of right now, no. After I did the Modifiers tab, I was working on getting permission to use the code so I could do the upkeep on the plugin, since David's no longer here. From David's thread, it seemed like a lot of forums were using it, and any updates I did would eventually be lost as an attachment in a post within the thread. As such, now that I've been given permission, I can do the upkeep on the plugin and be able to have a library entry for it.

Since obtaining that permission, I've been working on the leaderboard aspect. To be honest, I had completely forgotten about having user placement. I will add that to my list of things to add - so I thank you for the reminder.

Lynx - sorry for the double post, but do you have any suggestions for me in the meantime? The plugin is working just fine mechanics wise so people are collecting candy, we just don't know how much everyone else has.

I'll see if I can get something added for user placement, but it may be the weekend before I'm able to do so. I've been going to my mother's house often, since my dad passed away, to help her.

I've got some ideas, but I need to test them to see if they'll work. If you can manage for a little while longer, I'll make this a priority when I get back.

Lynx the way to make the bag appear and everything in the mini profile was a bit hard previously as well for forums who did not use the basic proboards theme stuff
and i did find a solution but that worked only for the previous theme i used, the theme i am using now, it does not work and i see nothing appear in the mini profile unfortunately
so i am also looking forward to see your solution to make it appear on a forum in the mini profile with a very custom look
