I was wondering if there is a way for members to opt out of the scavenger hunt if they wish.  Some members like it and others don't.

This can be done via a member group.

1) Just set up an 'open' member group called "No Scavenger" (or whatever you wish), make sure all powers are set to no' and staff and global are set to 'no'.

2) Then on the manage plugin page, click the edit permission button, set the who can view this plugin to 'members & staff', and the except members in the groups: add the group "No Scavenger."


Members can then freely choose to opt out via their profile and/or join back in as they wish with no extra effort on staff.

Could you double check your permission on the What's the Prize? tab, please? They should look like this:

I had the Write permissions wrong. Had staff and members.

I still get the message.

It's saying that you don't have the permission to write to the main admin's key. Since you are the main admin of that forum are you logged in when you are having that message?

Surprisingly enough, you are in group number 22, and you have key permissions to EXCLUDE group 22. Which means you are saying that you can't write to your own key. If you meant to put it under INCLUDE I would suggest just that.

Remove any groups under the "write" section

toetapping , to clarify the above instructions. Go to Admin > Plugins > Manage. Click on the Scavenger Hunt plugin and then the "What's the prize?" tab. Scroll to the bottom under Write Permissions. There you have added the group "Your Host" to the exclusion list. Being a member of that group you have excluded your self from being able to write to the key(s).

Since you are already staff and the only member in that group, there is no reason to even have that group included/exclude. Just delete that exception and save changes.

I removed the group for you.
