i was recommended to check it out on incognito mode and that doesnt work either. im beginning to think it may have been compromised since it's "Not secure."

I do believe something is wrong, but I can't imagine what it is. Hope it can be resolved quickly. Don't know how many members may have tried to access the forum today, and couldn't get through.

All web pages that are http are considered "not secure" by browsers. If the site were 'compromised' so it was unreachable it would effect all users, not just a select few.

Violette, if they haven't yet can you ask those with an issue to clear their browser's cache/cookies. If the one member was able to access the forum with a new account, there could be some old cookies/cache data that was interfering with logging in with the original account. If it was a browser or forum issue, then they should be having the same trouble logging in regardless of making a new account.

That makes total sense, Scott! I will pass that on to the member. She never did get on Maison yesterday. I don't know if she tried to access through the Dashboard or not. Anyway, thanks so much for your help. It is always appreciated.

I hate to bring this up again, but another member just went through a lot of steps to get back in Maison. Thank goodness, he persevered, but other members might not.

This really alarms me. How many other members tried and gave up. I know the one lady gave up. Are you sure their cache/cookies is the problem?

It's not that cache/cookies is the problem. But, clearing those is always a good first step in problem resolution for web related issues. It gives the browser a clean slate to work from. Sometimes it helps, sometimes not, but it never hurts to try.

The base of your forum is no different to that of any other forum hosted by ProBoards, and regardless of the period of time no one has accessed it, should not act any differently. So that you have a few people citing an issue perhaps links to something which has been added to the forum, perhaps a theme, which is now causing an issue.
It sounds like they can initially get to the forum, but after logging in, it then gives them the problem of the message you have posted in the screenshot. Perhaps then that the people who have had this issue all have the same theme selected in their profile [ which is different to the theme on which guests are viewing ]. If you have more than one theme, consider disabling all of them except for the default one, and see if they continue to have issues.
You can disable a theme via the Theme Manager [ admin > themes > theme manager ] and then click the check box next to the theme name to disable it.
If they still have problems with that, then consider disabling all plugins next, as you may have plugins which affect certain accounts, or only members, and if you haven't used the plugin for a while, it may be using old resource files. For example, a plugin's code may call for an image from a third party site, and if that image is moved or deleted from the third party site, or replaced with something else, it may cause an issue.
Try those two things out and see if it makes a difference.

You may be on to something there, Craig! One of the plug-ins stopped working very recently and I had to delete it and re-install. We'll see if that solves the problem.
Out of the 80 or so themes, only 13 are available right now, so I will start disabling those now and ask the member who stopped trying to access the forum, to try again.

Violette Edited to add: Removing all themes but the default did not help. The person still could not access the forum. I will now start removing plug-ins one by one.

I updated the Yootil, but I couldn't find a plugin that said cake-day. That was the plugin's ID, not name. It sounds like one of the Birthday plugins. What you want to look for is a plugin listed twice. There is a version 1.2.1 installed and a version 1.3.0 installed. Just go to Admin > Plugins > Manage and look for a plugin listed twice. One will be 1.2.1 and the other will be 1.3.0.

I found them. One said "Date of Creation" and the other said "Member Happy Birthday"...now I can't decide which one to ditch. Does it hurt anything to have them both?
