G'day,
I did a search using imgbb.com and found a post that states it is no longer recommended due to redirects so perhaps I may not find any help here?
Simple Image Upload plug-in has served us well for 8 months. Over the past few days users have been affected simply by clicking on a posted image. That image of course lives on ibb.co and going there for some users has resulted in redirects to dubious advertising or porn sites. Some users have experienced permanent device corruptions.
I have reported the issue 3 times in 3 days to imgbb.com support without much interest.
So that is the background for what it's worth.
Given the ProBoards unrecommended status of the imgbb.com plug-in do you have any preferred alternatives for managing images? Attachment is not an option for us due to current limited storage.
Regards

try this in GLOBAL HEADER <script async src="//imgzb.com/sdk/pup.js" data-url="https://imgzb.com/upload"></script> I think no membership is required..... I was having trouble getting the simple uploader images loading, and ?adwoman? posted this code to put in the Global Header. It shows up as a new button in the quick reply box. It works the same as the Simple Image Uploader.

Regards Hi TechoThe Simple Image Upload plugin lived up to its name. It was possible simply click the button, select the desired image from a folder on your computer, then it uploaded the image (either to your img.bb account on anonymously) and placed the BBCode to display the image, in the post. Unfortunately because they started linking to unacceptable sites, the plugin was removed from the library. There are currently no methods that are that easy to use. You might choose to work with one of the hosts listed under the Image Hosting heading in the Help Guide article: External ResourcesYour members would need to create an account on one of those hosts, upload to that host, then copy the BBCode supplied for the image, and paste it into a post on the forum. There is a plugin which was written for the vgy.me host by Peter. If you go to this post: support.proboards.com/post/7202930/thread he provides a link to github where the .pbp file can be downloaded, and a link to a youtube video with instructions. Your members would need to create an account on vgy.me, and create a User Key. The first time they use the plugin, they would enter their user key. But after the initial startup efforts, this plugin is very easy to use. Simply click the button, select the image, and the plugin uploads the image and places the BBCode right into the post.

There's gotta be something which accepts annonymous uploads and is able to be made into a plugin, right? :s Why can't there be any other alternatives?

@smithj, the plugin that Peter created, that Retread posted about above, is the alternative.

There's gotta be something which accepts annonymous uploads and is able to be made into a plugin, right? :s Why can't there be any other alternatives? If I recall correctly, using a host which allowed anonymous plugins was one of the criteria Peter used when writing TWO of the plugins. First, tinypic, which soon after ... went belly-up. Then vgy.me, which stopped allowing anonymous uploads not too long after the plugin was written. So he wrote a new version. There could be other alternatives. If you'd like to do your part, you could do some research on free image hosts that allow anonymous uploads. Then create a thread on the Request a Plugin board. List the hosts and request someone make a plugin for one of them. Then maybe someone with the skills will write one. But of course, there's no guarantee that will happen.

@smithj , the plugin that Peter created, that Retread posted about above, is the alternative. Yes, I was the one who suggested the vgy.me plugin, but now you have to create a whole user key thing since vgy doesn't accept anonymous uploads anymore. So, it isn't as simple as just uploading an image anymore.

The reason why there isn't a "simpler" work around is because these scripts are reliant on third party hosts. The fact of the matter is that PB is not an image host, so all scripts that intend to marry PB with an image uploader will always be at the mercy of the whims and changes of third parties (which have always been a use at your own risk scenario for PB.)
To be blunt, you can't have what you're wanting with no flaws because a third party makes the decision.
To be quite honest there is also a good chance that site after site keeps insisting on registration BECAUSE of the existence of plugins like this, to mitigate the costs of running their service. By using the API with no registration, 0 traffic or return investment is directed to them, which cuts into their revenue. Significant cuts to revenue mean less money for overheads, leading to the loss of capabilities and if left unmitigated, to the closure of their service.

I have reported the issue 3 times in 3 days to imgbb.com support without much interest. Techo , I applaud your efforts in attempting to get imgbb to clean up the problems associated with their service. But since that is something over which ProBoards ... and you and I as forum owners ... don't have any direct control, I'll offer you some additional advice. The long-term fix would be to use a different host AND to edit all posts to remove the links which have become problematic. However, if you have MANY such images that have links associated with them, this might be a daunting task. I've been testing a technique to render those links harmless by using the Censored Words list. It removes some of the links completely and causes other to go nowhere. You're welcome to try it: From your Admin panel, navigate: Admin Home> Settings> Censored Words, then create the following new entries: Censored Word [a href="https://imgbb.com/"] Replacement Word [a] Censored Word [url=https://imgbb.com/] Replacement Word [url=""] Censored Word [url=https://ibb.co/ Replacement Word [url="" alt=

We have experienced the same redirects. There are a great many images on our forum that are hosted on the imgbb site. What we have found works is to have an ad blocker enabled for imgbb.com.
