"Thou shall not have any other God before me." Does this mean that God wouldn't like a competitor? I've roamed through the Bible, to find some disturbing phrases. Something that struck me was "chosen people". So God chooses people, to save? This means that all those people around the remote parts of the world, with no access to this information of God are breaking the ten commandment? And why? Because God chooses people? Hmm... People around the world have joined Christianity. Are they ignoring their Judaic roots? It can't be ignored. The fact is, that they are saying those who had no way to find about this "one true God" are breaking it just by worshipping someone else. That's not fair to them. What type of God is this? So believing in good, doing in good, and following a just religion isn't enough. It has to be this one. Lastly, I don't blame God, but the people who created or edited the books.

Srsly. Anything that can be idolized, can be a so called "God". So, basically it states that God should comes first, and everything else should come after. Not Money, your country, famous people, actors, leaders, etc. should come first, but God. Everything can be labeled as a God, so long as people are willing to follow them, and not God.
And I am not touching the other stuff. I don't want to get into long winded posts on the 10 Commandments, and other stuff relating to it.

I just want to address this bit:
"This means that all those people around the remote parts of the world, with no access to this information of God are breaking the ten commandment? "
No. xD Lack of information isn't a sin. That's why you're instructed to preach the word of god so ignorance will be erradicated. Or so I was told when I went to church. xD it's denying god after being informed that will get you in 'trouble'.
(please note: i don't particularly believe what i just wrote. it's just the explanation i was given once upon a time)

He had to give you commandments. If you aren't worshiping him there is no other God. There is only Satin. If you don't worship him who do you worship? God does not choose who to save we choose to save ourselves or go to the other place... I understand what you are saying. The Judaic God is the same as ours. The problem is they never recognized Jesus as the savior God promised. One of the things that have to happen before the end of the world is for God's chosen people to come back to him...aka the Jews. God did chose the Jews and make a covenant with them because of the righteousness of one man. That doesn't mean that only descendants of him will be saved it just means they are related to a man who was favored by God.

Given that: If you never knew the Christian god existed you will not be punished Therefore: Why would you ever tell me God existed? By doing so, you condemn people to hell who take your knowledge and don't believe it. That's pretty mean of you. It would be better for you not to tell people so that they are not sinners and still get to heaven through ignorance.

Pat, these are not my beliefs at all, I'd just like to clarify that. ^^;' Simply regurgitation on my part the answer I received when I asked my priest. I subscribe to a very different belief system now, as that answer (and many others) dissatisfied me. I agree with you whole heartedly, it'd be better not to spread the word of god (but then you defy him?) in order to allow people to reach heaven through ignorance.

Romans 1:20 - "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse." In other words, even if people aren't 'told' about God, they should have a basic knowledge of the world around them and how complex it is which shows that it was a 'creation' from a 'creator'. If they deny this then they are without excuse.

You can still go to hell. Natural law still governs you. What it really means is that you can still go to heaven as long as you try to live a good life and don't reject God.

If they deny this then they are without excuse. I think science gives us a great understanding of the world and how it works A few things that simply don't make sense: The Bible says god created light on the first day (Genesis 1:3) but he created the stars on the 4th day (Genesis 1:16). That just doesn't make sense. There's a talking snake that tricks you into eating fruit (Genesis 3:1). God decided it was bad for people to build a tower towards the heavens so he waved his magic hands and no one spoke the same language any more (Genesis 11:1-9) Jesus (who is "god" as a part of the trinity) has to get himself killed to settle a debt that he (god) imposed upon himself. If one is to believe what the bible says, then adultery is punishable by death (Deuteronomy 22:22), if you find a virgin and sleep with her you can pay her family 50 shekels of silver and she will then be your wife (Deuteronomy 2:29), you can't grow two different crops at once or wear clothing made out of two types of materials (Leviticus 19:19), you can't cut your hair or beard (Leviticus 19:27), etc etc. It just doesn't make sense to me.

If they deny this then they are without excuse. This is why thousands of religions have been formed, and yet Christians insist on theirs being the only one that will work to get someone into Heaven. What happens to these people? 1: Worships their local deity, believes that gods or spiritual energies are imbued in everything, lives according to natural law (not religious law), possibly breaks a few Christian commandments but is a good person, doesn't know about Christianity. 2: See above, but does know about Christianity and has rejected it for one of many reasons... they think the religion is illogical, breaks traditions that are thousands of years old, the missionary was too zealous and obnoxious and gave them a bad view of it, the religion doesn't fit with their culture and society, etc.

And what's to say science isn't the explanation as to how God does things? Science doesn't disprove God if that's what you're getting at. Also, if someone hasn't even heard the word 'God' before, how can you expect them to understand the fundamental and basic facts of science? Science isn't 'preached' throughout countries that have lack of education, lack of resource, lack of money (and so on) as God is. I find that a little self contradictory there if you believe in the Big Bang account. There was Cosmic microwave background radiation before the formation of stars that let off at least a faint red glow. That's called light. Like I said, science could just be an explanation of how God works. I'm not saying I agree with everything that the 'big bang' or the 'evolution theory' says, but it would make sense if you put some aspects of it with creationism. www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Cosmic_microwave_background_radiationDemons can possess people, so why not animals? It's not that he was afraid of people making the tower to reach the heavens (which we know is not possible), it's just that everyone would be living in the same place on the earth, which as we know today would not work very well because we need resources from all over the world to function correctly. God did this for our own good to separate us so we can function as a society. God didn't impose a debt on himself. God is a creative being who likes creating things (obviously). He is also a God who loves and has relationships with his creations. For it to be true love, instead of robot love, God gave us free will which people abused since the creation of man. God loves his creation so he died for his creation. Would you not die for someone you loved? That was the law before the death of Jesus. If we sin, even if we say a white lie, we deserve to die because our sinfulness. That may seem extreme to the modern society, but as a perfect standard it seems completely logical. Since we sin we cannot be in the presence of God, unless we have Jesus which died for our sins. If we ask for forgiveness then we have restored our relationship with God because we're now 'perfect' in God's eyes because of Jesus sacrifice. (I'm sure you've heard that last part before, just reiterating it though) Why pick Christians out on this one? Every religion says this. I don't see your point. It's a matter of if people do their research on their religion to back up their claims - then those who blindly follow religion. I've done major research (and I'm still doing major research) on religion and so far the Bible and Christianity seem to be the only one that can back itself up with science and history.

No no...
It means that you can make an "idol" out of anything and worship it. "He" doesn't want you to do this. ---------------------------------------------
*epiphany* If God/Jesus says that a sins are all equally bad, then why does he have the 10 commandments? I mean...number 1 has to be just about the worst thing that you can do if it is number 1...right?
Edit: 1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.
^ Only evidence I have that all sins are NOT equal.

I've done major research (and I'm still doing major research) on religion and so far the Bible and Christianity seem to be the only one that can back itself up with science and history. You're incorrect. Not every religion says this. For instance, Hinduism believes that there are many different representations or faces of God, all of whom are part of one ultimate deity, so they believe there are many paths to the same place. Just one example of a major, ancient religion that doesn't preach itself as the only way to salvation and convince people to convert everyone else to it. And what do you mean "back itself up with science and history"?
