You cant just "fix" a block. It is done remotly and we have no control over it. Additionally if that 1 server was blocked, ALL users of that service would then be blocked, at least at the moment it is just a couple of servers Besides, no 1 server could handle that much mail. Services like hotmail have thousands of servers to process mail sending alone Are you saying the actual name of the e-mail "nobody@proboards.com" doesn't have anything to do with it being blocked? I am not convinced. It's too easy to change the name to something else. And at the least, wouldn't changing the name help to keep them from going to the spam/junk email folder? Seems to me that, if for the most part, emails are going into the junk folder at hotmail, the server itself isn't being blocked. If it were, the e-mail wouldn't be received by hotmail in the first place. Isn't it more likely that your emails are being filtered because of name or content? Please change your e-mail and give that a try. If for no other reason, then To appease an old man. Thank you Russ aka OverVolt

if I may offer this? you could put this code into main header or footer as well to warn potential member of the current Hotmail issue on the newer servers until the Hotmail issue is sorted..--> (the code is editedible and only serves as an example) <center><b> Notice: to potential Members thinking of joining that may have Hotmail as an email service, it is advisible that you use an yahoo mail or Gmail email account to insure that you Recieve your activion code in order to activate your account on this forum, sorry for any inconvenience, thank you </b></center> edited to add potential members to the text instead of member, the code as is a working code.

Please change your e-mail and give that a try. If for no other reason, then To appease an old man. Thank you Russ aka OverVolt The name is changed already, and i have changed so many things. Signup to a board and try it, depending on the server, you will either get it to your in box or junk folder (depending on your settings) if you are on a problem server, you just wont get it. So yeah, problem isn't mail getting to junk mail instead of inbox at all, that isn't what this thread is about. There are several servers which hotmail have totally blocked (wont even consider it as junk). I cannot even manually send a mail from the server to my hotmail account on those "blocked" servers. Thats from any address or to any hotmail address. The IP itself has been blocked. If the mail is redirected through another IP, the traffic volume increase then upsets hotmail again. I am working on the situation, i am going through email logs for every sent email from every server, tracking down why emails arnt getting through. Only problem is that providers do not give out their criteria for "spam" as then spammers could change their emails so they get through I am just trying to get things to a "best" scenario. But like many many other web based services have said on their support forums, a day may just come when theres just a permanent apology, saying theres nothing that can be done anymore. I would like to hope that doesn't happen though

Yeah. I know what you mean Martyn. I really think Microsoft just likes to make everybody mad. I swear... anyways, like Ms Pixie suggested for those on a board that is affected just put up that notice. I'm just glad I'm not on that server. I wish you admins luck.

Hello Everyone,
I am running into a problem with activation emails that have nothing to do with their receipt. The activation keys that are being received are giving the message that they are invalid. This error is happening when an established member has tried to change her email address.
Is anyone else having this problem, and how do I correct it?
Thank you, Tianna

yea, this happened to me a few times. And i'm using yahoo.
Here's a suggestion that i figured out. If your using yahoo, and you joined a forum and didn't get the acctivation after a day or to and sent for another acctivation. Turn your SpamGuard from On to Off (or vice versa depending on what you have it on) Then resend for another acctivation and you should get it. It worked for me.
I hope this helped a few people

I guess people'll just have to spam up this thread then asking for invites even though Martyn didn't leave the thread unlocked for that.

If you see members having problems, i have no objection for you to offer in PM's, as long as you are just helping. trouble with a list of members with gmail to offer, it would get out of hand as those members might not be online when asked.

As I'm sure you are aware of, there are still problems with activation emails going to verizon email accounts. I inquired about this with Verizon and they sent me an email saying i should pass the following url on to you so that they can do research and allow proboards emails to go through: www.verizon.net/whitelist. I dont know if you guys have already tried this, but if you haven't, maybe it will solve the problem with Verizon!

This is the weirdest thing... I was creating a support account here to post that I'm not getting activation codes sent to my work email addresses (two seperate ones that are not free email accounts). And the weirdest thing... I got the activation code to my work email address! So I tried updating my profile on the board im creating, but im still getting nothing! Why are my activation codes being sent to my work address for creating my support account here, but not on my message board?
Ps, i double checked spelling, spaces, etc.... im clueless
Since my message board is a private board, is it possible to just create my members accounts for them?
