Bugger Just set up a new forum and not received activation codes. It's server 98 and it was a googlemail address. I tried resending, and then resending using gmail.com not @googlemail.com (goes to the same inbox) and still nothing. Argh!!!! Just to let you know I got them sent to my BT Yahoo account instead and that worked so I managed to activate my account. The ones that I sent to my gmail account then arrived, just a bit late! So it's all alright for me now.

I think there may also be a problem with servers on email accounts registered through www.mail.com. Mail.com has a variety of .com addresses including mail.com, @email.com, post.com, etc. I typically use mail.com for my email purposes so that's how I discovered this. I've not received one activation email on any of those accounts after numerous tests.

That is a message sent by the Hotmail staff. They change your filters automatically.
I believe that members should contact the hotmail staff about this issue. You can do this by clicking the "Feedback" button on the bottom of the screen.
Here is a suggested message to send to them:

Here is a suggested message to send to them: Yes i am inclined to belive user feedback is the best approach, however its not really a good idea for me to tell users to start pestering their support on our behalf Our servers ONLY send out signup emails, and mass emails, which are only sent to registered members. It would be nice to know why they so aggressivly block some servers (while leave others be)

No kidding. I would love it if they would block the spam I don't want.....instead of putting it in my junk mail.....

How do you get a reply within 24 hours and i still dont have 1 after weeks....
Ill try with the emails again, prehaps they have a backlog, or hell, even blocked the email ¬_¬
Ill try sending it with my hotmail adress, little chance of that being blocked by hotmail

Well I don't know what you've done. One of my new members (registered today) used a hotmail address and he's fully active now in the forum, or was it a one time wonder, hehehe.

I just started a proboards today, and a user tried to create an account, and did not receive any activation email at his charter.net email. Is this a new problem?

Yahoo definatly accepts our mail, however the service was/is rather unreliable. A recent test (not by us) showed 50% of their incoming mail servers being down at the time of the test. Since that report was published they could well have fixed that (would like to hope so) but im not sure. I know a couple of months back my parents (who use BT yahoo mail) had instances where mail (in general, not from PB) wasnt arriving, or if it did, days late because of the problem Aside from that, and definatly if they have fixed it, yahoo mail works **Edit** I got 107 Acutally, I have just made a site I used Hotmail, Yahoo, and GMail, and I have waited thirty minutes, and it still has not come. So Yahoo and Gmail don't work anymore.. And I think you know, that is annoying!

There are currently email issues on some of the newer servers. These problems are as a result of email providers such as hotmail simply blocking our servers. Our servers themselves are sending out emails just fine, as users using other email providers are getting their mails instantly. We also get status reports about the sent email instantly, so they are defiantly going. Annoyingly, as other internet based services have found out, hotmail do not follow standards when it comes to reporting email delivery. According to the response from hotmails mail servers to each mail sent, they get a "successfully delivered" message, which in fact isn't the case, its deleted as "spam" within their system after that point, and never reported back to us as happening. This makes it VERY hard to detect which servers are blocked, and which are not, as in all cases, the responses from their mail servers is exactly the same as servers where delivery works. In fact the only reason i know is when i test each server with my own hotmail address and see which i get an email from. Users of AOL should have noticed a significant increase of delivery rates of emails from us. This is due to a very helpful mail department who have contact numbers, web forms, and application procedures to be added to whitelists. Hotmail don't have a whitelist, the closest they have is "pay $20,000 a year and bypass our filters". That realistically only being an option for ISP's and other email service providers (such as yahoo for example) and to me is just typical Microsoft. We are trying our best to rectify this situation by rerouting mail through non blocked servers, but as users may have noticed hotmail are blocking more and more servers Hopefully a more permanent arrangement can be made. If in the mean time you have having problems with hotmail, i can only suggest using another email provider for the purposes of receiving activation codes I apologize for this inconvenience Martyn i havent had any problems using msn / hotmail to sign up, but now i use my tiscali email address because i know tiscali isnt blocking emails from the servers

i havent had any problems using msn / hotmail to sign up, but now i use my tiscali email address because i know tiscali isnt blocking emails from the servers I use tiscali, and I'm not receiving email notifications, although my prob isn't exactly as described in this thread probably related. I (as admin) aren't getting email notification when my forum is in Limited sign up. I'm assuming I should be notified by email when someone registers so I can't enable their account ? Otherwise how would I know of sign ups except checking the member list regularly.

I could be wrong, but i dont believe it sends out email notification. I have never used or had anything to do with the feature to know better. 1 of the members will probably have a better idea
