Also to advertise my Podcast...lolZ...But I'm probably gonna start a new project on to get a buncha ppls that live round me and even guys(and/or girls) i've known a while via the net....

An interesting question... it took me a minute to think up a sufficient answer, I will admit.
One thing (don't take this in a misleading way, I'll explain it); popularity. If the members weren't there to look up to me, and basically make me happy to know them and be respected amongst them, I would not bother.
The second thing is time. My area is boring, and I have so much free time on my hands that it gives me something to do to run and maintain a board.
The third thing is the diversity I see around my board, and knowing that I helped cause the meeting of those people. I get to talk to people daily from other countries, states, cities, etc. It is quite a different twist to what I consider the real world.
Suppose that is all. And of course I enjoy doing it.

Please make your post a bit more thought provoking. This is a baord of Discussion, not 5 word comments. Make sure you read the rules and guidelines of a board before posting.

I would like to be an admin because of when I was looking for forums of topics to join none of the particular topic has been established so I dedided to create my own (though now there's quite a few boards), if you mean by successful a few dedicated members who log on each day then mostly it's been successful though it's just hard to keep a board from dying. I do enjoy being an admin though I do hate when problems come up like rude members etc...but I do handle the problems alright. Overall I don't really use my admin powers much like moving threads etc.... but it's just nice to know their there.

I became an admin, and joined proboards for that matter, becuase of the opression that the GameFAQs moderators has been putting on members on their message boards, and I thought that it was too much and i wanted total power on a message board, as well as my own forum, and i wanted to not make the same dumb mistakes the mods on GameFAQs did.
Well, of course now my motives are different, it's fun to run a forum and actually is a lot of work to keep up.

I became an admin because there was a subject I liked, and I wanted to put it on the internet for others to interact and discuss it. I know there are a lot of anime and roleplay fans on the internet, but my goal was to make a place where friends with common interests could get together and talk in a friendly enviroment.
I felt I had the skills needed to create such a place, and that I wouldn't fail while trying to make everyone happy. Through much practice I succeeded.

I decided to become a forum admin for a few reasons.
I was already the admin of a forum that really didn't interest me. I set the forum up for some friends and stuck around for maintenance, but according to what they wanted I was not allowed to freely use creativity and explore all that could be done with a ProBoard.
Then when the forum was near going under, I was looking for a place for science fiction discussion, and could not find any forums that suited what I was looking for, so I decided to create myself one, and explore to see how I could give it the look and feel I had in my mind, as well as the content I was looking for. Not long after I did this I came across two forums here that I liked and would have prevented me creating a forum, but I had already done it so decided to stick it out.
Being the 'admin' or man in charge didn't really appeal to me. I would rather discuss my interests and not have to worry about all of the things an admin has to worry about, but I was really curious to see how I could design it, and did want to have some kind of control over the content of the forum to suite my needs and the needs of the forum.
So basically I created a forum because I was interested in designing one fully, and because at the time I could not find another science fiction forum that suited my full interests.

I like to start off a forum when there is somethign that I'm realy interested in and feel theres alot I could do on a forum.
I like being an admin because I like the power, and having the forum exactly the way I want it. I enjoy doing the layouts and graphics. I feel a sense of achievement when they become active, and It feels good when there are people who keep coming back to post it.
when you're a member you don't get any of that

I actually did join another proboards website and I have been involved there almost a year. Several people got fed up and left for some reason or another and created people specific boards. (The board I was on revolved around a TV show and the other boards branched off to the actors that played them). I wanted to become an admin of one of the characters of the show...and not the real life actress. I thought that would be a more unique niche...although limiting. Someone beat me to the punch, but then offered me to be a co-admin because I had millions of ideas and the timeless energy to be the admin instead of her. I became the admin because I love the character and I think that having this level of devotion opens up new concepts not only about that character, but also about the original show, whose board I still attend and post on about the general show aspects. I think being an admin is fun and demanding, and those two concepts have never bothered me in the past.

well my 'why' is pretty simple, I was clanleader, my clan needed a site, so my second in command made a site, second in command betrayed me, I made a new site, love to be independant of the other people, and (I gotta admit) I love it that their dependant on me

I have set up my new forum here in the hope that I can provide a 'service' for at least a section of our community. I also have another 'support' forum which I set up for the same reason. I've got bored with the forums where people only want to play 'word games' and don't bother to post anywhere else on the sites. Also, on many forums, discipline is scarce, bad language etc is allowed to go unchecked and others have to 'put up' with it.
I'm hoping that, as admin of my 2 latest sites, I and my members can enjoy being part of something worthwhile that is helping others.

I wanted to make my own forum because i saw this other forum that my friend Dylan made, and it looked very cool. So i asked him how me made it, he told me he used a free thing called "Proboards" I asked him a little more about it and he told me how to make forums and stuff. So my friend, (varas) and I, made a forum called chaos rift about a week ago, it's just starting, we don't have too many members yet (20-30) but we are constantly updating and making it look cooler with new codes that we find here. I just think it's alot more fun to provite members with fun activities to do at our forum. And it makes me feel proud to be the owner. I especially can't wait until it grows big like this site (i highly doubt it will grow this big)
THAT'S why I prefer being an admin as apposed to being just a lowly member.

why did I choose to become admin?well, i started off as a regular member on a board. After some months, a friend opened a board of her own on Proboards, and when I saw how fast she made it, I began wondering if I could do it. So, I opened my first board mostly to see if I could do it. But now I realize that being an admin of a board is the best position I could ever wish for. This way, I can make new skins when I get bored of the old look, I can make my own rules and not be forced to follow other peoples rules. Also, I like the fact that I can control other members when they go off topic or they begin spamming.

I used to own a Harry Potter forum, but it was bogus, for obvious reasons. Im currently making a Christian forum, because im aware that, there really is only one or perhaps 2 big christian forums out there, as a Christian myself, i see it as an exciting opportunity to bring Christians together on a proboard made by me.
