As for the same reasons as many here, I wanted to incorporate my own ideas and storyline into a forum. I wanted to make it fun and easy-going, yet I also wanted to have certain limits to things aswell. Alot of sites I have been on don't care about the innocent eyes of younger people. I make sure that my sites keep it tolerable for younger users. There are exceptions of password protected threads, but I like to try to keep it as clean as possible. Sure, young minds are subjected to horrific things daily that they shouldn't be. I'll just be one less person to contribute.

Very good. There are many many people who are like 11 who lie about their age and get on these forums. Making one that will respect the innocence of those younger children is a very good reason to start one. That's why I made mine also, I know that having a Pokemon RPG there will be younger kids that will want to get on. If it is obvious that they are under 13, then I ban, but I try to promote anti-n00bness on my forum, to help people mature also.

I have made boards since I even heard of Proboards. I guess I became a admin because I wanted to have my own push and pull. Not for power but for the fact I[/b] wanted something I wanted to play on. There was no rules and I myself made up my won when I made the entire slew of boards. Nearly all died because of drama or just the simple fact some players could not grow up. But in a nut shell I loved to make a world where things were easy going. I got tired of all the Harry Potter boards and the wanna be good fantasy places that lasted for no more then a week. So, I buckled down and then made my own sites. They hit almost every single genre out there. But I do it for the fact I love to challenge myself, see how far I can go in this before I run dry. I chose to be a admin because I could and it felt great meeting new faces.
That and I want to try and stick to one board now. Lay low for a bit until I can post there no more.

I set up my board as there were none specifically for carriage driving. There were other horse riding / showing forums but none specifically for carriage driving and I thought there was a need for one so I set it up and its been quite successful and many members have said that it was really needed.

See main thing is people want to own stuff because they are humans. they don't want a "boss" as you can call it and would rather have there own and be the boss.
that is not the best because then we will have Millions of Billions of proboards with 1 - 2 people in each one.. so there is a good and bad to it

Most people, I would say, would like to be an "admin" simply because of the control and power they have. Humans are extremely greedy. Take Niccolo Machiavelli's book "The Prince" as an example. Though there are some people who would become admin's to be able to have a forum that fits EXACTLY to their preferences.

Because I enjoy the topics, aspire to have a successful board, and enjoy setting up (or trying to set up) good systems and communities.

There are a few reasons why I'd like to be an admin. Its fun to create a message board and see how many appeal to your work, but I believe I could be a good example for others on the net. Just like everyone else, though, I like to make a message board with similar interests. I have joined others and my opinions with them were too diverse, which made it difficult to post sometimes, but I notice its different with my own message board.
ProBoards has taken the time to groom me, like many other members here that pay attention, to become a good staff member. I have a list of what to do and what not to do on my board. I not only got made this list from inspiration from ProBoards, but observing other staff members on various different boards and because of the experience of being a member myself.
Its kind of gotten to the point where its been long enough where I can be an admin. I don't think a member should create a message board right away just because they like to. I think one should have experience and I have had a lot.

Who said I wanted to be admin? I enjoy being a mod. Not as much responsibility (or more, depending on how you look at it), and I'm still able to keep the forum from turning into trash and improve the forum. As a mod, too, I'm able to do more graphics and less administration, which includes collaborating with the other mods to make new skins and the sort for the forums. As with one of the forums I'm on, I'll become an admin if need be and if I'm asked to, but its not a position I'm really after.

You constantly have to deal with people wanting to be mods and stuff, plus you're constantly getting pm'd by everyone. It's practicly a job and a half.

I like being the admin of a forum because you can do whatever you want. If someone is breaking the rules, you can suspend them. If you want a new sub-forum, there is one. So basically what I like about being an admin of a forum is no one can boss me around or be mean to me because i can just ban them. I also enjoy making it, entering HTML codes in the headers and footers, and just being able to say that it's my forum.

I became the main Admin to School of Scar on accident actually. I joined last summer with no RP experance what so ever and just did my thing. It was still a smaller forum then, but starting to pick up. I was just a mod (cause they asked if anyone wanted too lmao) with a lot of ideas on how to help with a lot of issues that happened all at once. Spamming, rude, one line posting members that had come in, in droves. Over time the main site Admin and his co admins became less active. Seeing as at this point I had now three characters, I was active and have a good head on my shoulders.
They promoted me and another member to Admin in October. It was a blessing and a curse because I personally caught a lot of crap from my members soon after. Nasty PM's and what have you all at once. I was wondering if I really cared anymore. I did though. One very boring night I revamped the site, started to clean it up. More members came, the bad ones began to leave and it is what it is now. The boy who created the forum eventually faded to not active handing it over to me, as I'd done most of the dirty work. I had a lot of help though from a few good staff members, I couldn't have done it without them.
It's been a long hard road and at times I wanted to leave for good. But Scar is like my baby and I share it with Kyle because I have a million other things. It was all on a whim to join and it just happened! Funny now I like to help at other sites as much as possible. G.Moding or just being a regular mod. I like seeing good potential sites work out for the best. I've always joked with a good RPing friend of mine that "we need to get paid for the dookie we put up with on a daily bases." cause it is like your job. But it's nice to do things the way you like to do them.

I like being both.It all depends what kind of forum Im on and with whom. If its run by a bunch of younger kids I'd prefer to be admin. But if its run by older people like closer to my age then I wouldnt mind being just a member.
And then again I like being admin on boards so you can be the one that came up with the idea and you were there from the start. Its a nice feeling when your board does really good and members enjoy themselves.

I didn't make my forum but i helped my friend and I guess the reason is because I wasn't pleased with most sites in which I had joined. All of them lacked my needs and so I decided to help my friend. Which I'll admit, at first I wasn't too crazy about it but now that i've got into it, im really glad I decided to help. It's a lot of fun, I love the feeling of having helped create something and being able to add my own personal input and actually having it considered.
I was once on a site for about a year or two and I always suggested or volunteered to help but the admins would turn me down and then complain about 'noone helping them' a week later. It irritated me that someone could be like that, and so I quit that forum eventually and joined another and another. Each one I joined never lasted long. The site's had each displeased me in different ways. Some weren't literate enough, others were too literate. Some were too inactive, others were too big in which members would ignore more newbies and stick with their own kind.
Every site I joined all seemed the same and for a while I was slumped with no real need to find another forum when my friend brought the opportunity open. I guess after having gone through so many sites I realized what I really wanted. I know its annoying to see alot of new forums that go nowhere, but I guess it's natural to want to try things on your own and see where that leads. I hope that I wont abandon my forum or it wont go down the drain, but right now im content with it and I guess thats all that really matters.
