I posted the following in another support thread and was
referred to this one:

"We have recently seem an add at my forum that offends some members. It is as follows:

Atlantis Gay Cruises
All-Gay Cruise Vacations to the Caribbean, Europe, Alaska & More

Now, normally, we are a "live and let live" community but we do have some rather young members and I am not sure adds such as this are appropriate. Is there anything that can be done to abolish this sort of advertising on Proboards?

I am not here to bash anybody, nor am I here to be bashed. I am simply here to express concerns of my members, as any decent Forum "admin" should do.

I would like to know what Proboards' "official" stance is on this issue. I am sure others would as well. I should think it would be of some concern to them.

It is a PG-13 site. And Gay is a PG-13 word. If Patrick accepts it then there is nothing we can do. I am only 15 and I would, even at 13, accept it as a PG-13 word.

Usually the Googlebot finds something you may have talked about, like T-shirts and puts an ad on your site for a T-shirt company, and other ads in a similar way. But this is not the case this time. And honestly I don't want that ad on our site either. I do know it's not my site, and since I didn't pay, there must be ads. That kind of ad however should be put where it is more welcome. Visitors and members probably don't realise where the random ads come from, and possibly making them leave. And for the record, It's not an 18th century mind-set, and there isn't a stick up anywhere. Some of us just don't want ads like that forced on us.

ok for starters, thats a good concern to have, if I was losing members over an advertisment I'd be a tad concerned as well.

also just becuase someone is not "open-minded" does not give you the right to bash them, action like that is in my opinions very closed-minded. if I disagree with someone I let them know. not freak out on them. I've liked this support site becuase people are freindly and helpful.

also there WAS a thread on this subject try looking into "Inapropriate" or "Inapropriate Add" (some guy got an add on his site about sex) he wanted to know how to fix it the mod said something about right-clicking clicking the URL 3 times and then mailing it them (i think) pardon if I'm incorrect, I'll look to see if I can find it for you.
I've tried Innapropriate and it isnt giving me any results I'll keep looking and let you know if I find anything.

Well then, complaining about it, isn't going to help. I'm pretty sure Patrick agrees, this is a PG-13 site, Gay is a "PG-13" word as I said above. There is nothing you can do about it.

actually some people would feel that homosexuality is pretty bad too. I beleive man and woman are meant for eachother and no other way.

Yes well, that is prejudice in itself. But i'm sure some of the older members will agree with me when I say that it isn't that bad with a Gay Cruise been advertised. I could be wrong though.

I am not saying that being gay is "bad" either. I am quite content being of the opposite persuasion BUT, whatever floats a persons boat, so to speak. I am simply saying that with my young members the appropriatness of it is being questioned.

By Proboards ToS, they should be at least 13.

10-15...the parents of which are members as well, and have voiced the opinion that is not appropraite for their children. That makes it a problem for me so I am here trying to solve it.
