Where is the download for this plug in? I don't recall seeing this in the Library. Can someone give a brief explanation on how this works? It hasn't been submitted yet, but will be shortly. Until then, you can grab it from this postDuh! I should have noticed it! lol I noticed the link for the cards! hahaha But it isn't working for me. What happens is I get the icon for poker, I click it, but don't see any cards. when I hit create post I see the cards listed as text in brackets, but it is so brief then they are gone and nothing shows when the post is finished.

You should only see the cards in the post itself. The code is designed not to display the cards on the posting page to stop people from editing their hand.
You may see it quickly when editing a post or when posting a hand, but only fleetingly while the code does it's stuff.
Are you not seeing the cards in the actual posts?

Apologies!!!
I'm in Japan and there are lots of things going on.
Rickshaw through Kyoto today...Life is tough...(For the runner)...LOL
I use Photobucket for my images with no issue as long as the end of the url matches the requirements for the code.
Todge did make changes to the V4 code way back when so I was afraid there would be issues, but there are none.
Altered example:

TodgeTodge, I reuploaded the cards, to my development site, one at a time and they show now. What is the idea with this? Do you or any person that plays, just get one shot at your hand? You don't get to swap out any cards. Each person just gets 5 card and the best hand wins. Is that it? Is this meant to be a solitaire type thing or can multiple people play and is there something in the plug in to prevent more than one person getting the same card? I'm just trying to understand how this works better. Thanks.

This was written as a request ages ago.. It's a simple five card deal, and there's nothing in place to stop more than one person getting the same card.
I think it was originally like that partially because of the difficulty in doing it, but also because there are only 52 cards in a deck. Get 10 people in the thread and you're out of cards, so it was decided to have a random five cards from the available 52 for all who join in.
I have often thought about expanding it to cover some simple rules, but never got around to it.

Todge, is there any way to get around each person having to upload the cards to their own image hosting site? Anyway to have them access the admins hosting site for the images? I don't know anything about plug ins or how they work.

Todge, have you ever checked with Peter to see if the poker game could somehow tie in with his monetary plug in, to allow wagering? I personally don't have a problem with it being a 'best' hand type thing.

I don't know anything about plug ins or how they work. That's the ONLY way to do. You, as the admin, will need to upload the images to your host and tell the plugin where that is. The code will then display those images from your host for anyone viewing posts containing poker hands. Todge, have you ever checked with Peter to see if the poker game could somehow tie in with his monetary plug in, to allow wagering? I personally don't have a problem with it being a 'best' hand type thing. That would require the code being able to work out the winning hand, which would be 'fun' to implement, assuming it's even possible, especially with threads spanning more than one page.

I do have them uploaded and members can view them, but for members to play they have to upload the images themselves to their image hosting service, right? That is what i mean. Any way around them all having to upload? At this point i am the only one that even sees the icon.

Nope. Once you have uploaded the images and added the URLs to the plugin, anyone viewing your poker thread will be able to see the images.

They can see the cards, they just can't see the poker icon in the editor. Todge Is there something I'm not doing right? You are hosting the poker icon, right? I see the icon but they don't ... why?

The poker icon is part of the code, so it's essentially hosted by Proboards, unless you have decided to change it.
Are your members not able to post a hand? Or are they seeing something other than the poker icon that they can click?

Or are they seeing something other than the poker icon that they can click? Ok. I have two that say they can see it and have used it, so it is working. Sorry to have troubled you. Thank you so much for your patience.
