Here I go, getting ready to duck some flying tomatoes. I don't understand why there is an advertising board in the first place. I mean, aren't we all pretty much admins for our own sites? Are those advertising our sites only showing other admins a way they decorated/or the style we created our own forums? Or is the advertising for the content or subject of our own sites? If so, then wouldn't paying for a search engine like google or bing or whatever they are called be the best way to reach more non proboard admins to come and use/view your site? I've always been a bit confused about why an advertising board was here. I mean, if I am advertising for my fan site, so other fans would know my community exists, I simply put a link in my signature then forget about it. The more I post and get to know all of the members here or ask tech or support questions etc. I can relax and advertise all at the same time. No need for a board like this. I think I've peeked in there once and all I found were 50 million bumps then never went back. There was nothing really of content in most of those bump threads. Now I'll open my umbrella and close my eyes tight, in preparation for anything tossed my direction. Even as an admin of several sites myself, I have found many sites on the advertising section that I have joined. Just the process of going there and seeing what others offer is nice. I also tell my members about the board so they can also browse through it as well. Lastly, I know a lot of RP site admins use that board to search for other sites to advertise their site on.

Do people bother reading what that first opening advertisement post says? Some opening posts get updated.

wildmaven I think I voted yes on that poll a while back because, it really looks familiar. At that time, I think I misunderstood (probably I had a horrible migraine again) thinking that it was asking... "after seeing an ad," and that's all. However, I did vote again yesterday, saying no, only because I never saw the ad HERE as you asked. I never heard of proboards before. A friend of mine, whom I met on a major motion picture website's dialogue board, introduced me to another site made by a fan. We, and some of my other friends, started posting there. THAT site was a proboard site. Eventually, some troublemakers began to post a lot, so I decided to give myself a birthday present, and do something people have been asking me to do for ages, to start my own website. Since, I was already on a proboard site, and familiar with it, I clicked the ad there. When I started my first site, it led me to the link to here. I never would have found THIS site otherwise. I'm guessing proboards must have ads in other places besides on all of their own websites for others to know about them to find this site. Cool. See this is what I was wondering, why that section is here. I seem to recall somewhere around here where people can show off their site creation... the style... or look of their websites. I think that's where I got confused. I think it's cool really, that people can come here to find and join other proboard websites. I know I've had a couple of people from here join mine. I think I'm going to start poking about more on that section to see what I might find. Normally, I just stick with one site to place my focus. Other sites I would join would be more for news, but not to socialize. See what I might hear about and take it back to my own members. (sites like: Mugglenet, The Leaky Cauldron, SnitchSeeker.com etc.) I think it's worth getting to know new friends too. ---- Now, a comment more to what this threads about.... BUMPING. I really think it's great to have a 24 hour period limit. Once people get in the habit of doing this, they should see that they will not need to keep bumping because their thread/ad for their site should not be pushed to another page near as soon.

Do people bother reading what that first opening advertisement post says? Some opening posts get updated. I have. This is part of what made me scratch my head. One post telling about the site, then a thousand bumps. I get it now. So, now I'm going to tiptoe out of this thread.
